OUT 274--STL-TIDBITZ AND MORE!

STL-TIDBITZ

I guess the shocker this week is the news from Clear Channel Radio St. Louis that Tony Scott and the Breakfast Crew (PICTURED LEFT) will be moving to the afternoon shift (2p.m.-7 p.m.)starting next Monday, Oct. 22. In its place will be the Steve Harvey Show which is currently on Clear Channel’s sister station 100.3 The Beat. I got the email last week from Breakfast crew personality Tammie Holland and just yesterday I got a text from in regards to an online petition to keep the popular Breakfast Crew show on its time slot 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. to sign up, you can go to http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/keepthebreakfastcrew It is interesting that on Wednesdays show’s the Crew (sans Tammie Holland) Scott and producer Arrika Parr ‘snuck’ on a vacation and broadcasting from on the islands of Antigua, West Indies. Scott announced that Holland was still in the STL and will be joining them on Monday for the BIG MOVE. Jokingly, Scott said, ‘Is Steve on yet?” It should be interesting how this move will affect their ratings but Tony Scott is a vet and has been playing musical chairs with Clear Channel for years. We’ll see if the petition will have an impact on Clear Channel’s decision.....................Speaking of Clear Channel and big moves , I did not have a clue that former 100.3 The Beat personality and singer Queen Isis Jones (SEEN IN ABOVE PIC ON THE LEFT WITH COCO SOUL) had found a radio gig in Birmingham. I found out last week through Delores Shante in the Partyline section of the St. Louis American. That sista is always on the move. She has come and left the STL more times than a 747. All I can say is good luck to the sista……

I was listening to Hypeman Dwight Stone’s radio show on 100.3 The Beat on Tuesday and he hinted that a STL rapper may be in the running of playing Notorious B.I.G. in the upcoming biopic. Then it dawned on me who he may be talking about and said that this rapper was battle star. My mind automatically flashed to Big Will(PICTURED ON LEFT) , who was crowned Rap Battle King on BET’s 106 and Park Show last year. I am sure this is who Stone was talking about. It makes perfect sense (especially with the uncanny resemblance of Will to B.I.G). For awhile the rumors were that newcomer reggae/rap singer Sean Kingston was to play the rapper, but it looks like Big Will may have a shot (pun not intended). Lets see happens!..................Legendary rock and roll pioneer Chuck Berry will be performing at the Argosy Casino on Nov.3 I hear this may be the last shows of his career…………………What’s the deal with the Belleville man Robert Farrell shooting his girlfriend in the eye and then later killing himself Tuesday? That was just too much playin for real!.............Looks like Cards manager Tony LaRussa is holding out to make his decision on whether he will sign back with the Cards for a 13th year after general manager Walt Jocketty got the ax a few weeks ago. But in unrelated news, LaRussa got other things to deal with mainly his court date spewing from his alcohol induced hangover and pass out before the baseball season began during spring training in FLA. His court date was suppose to be this past Monday. But it has been postponed , for the second time) to Dec.3…………………

Go Rams! (PLEASE) They are now 0-6. They couldn’t pull off the loss to the Ravens last Sunday suffering a 22-3 loss. The loss makes the Rams the losingsest team in the team’s record when it was part of the Los Angeles mold. But have no fear, Superman QB Marc Bulger (PICTURED RIGHT) said he was coming out of his injured two rib hiatus and returning to the Rams fold next Sunday as the Rams play the Seahawks. Most of Bulger’s influence stemmed from backup QB Gus Frerotte who threw five interceptions and lost a fumble in last Sunday's game. All we can do is see………………………….

In other Rams news, I was listening to Malcolm Briggs’ radio show "Rolling the Dice" last Thursday on Rams Radio on 103.3. FM where rams’ Steve Jackson (who co-hosts with Briggs) said that he was going to try and get back in the lineup after suffering a groin injury a few weeks back. Then Briggs bragged (is that past tense for Briggs? LOL) that the Rams must really see that they need Jackson. Hmmm, interesting. Like I say all we can do is see….

I guess we’ll see how Nelly did performance wise when the BET Hip Hop Awards will air (TAPED LIVE) on BET this Wednesday (The Lunatic boys Murphy lee and Kyjuan alluded that Nelly’s performance was fueled with females on stage on there Sunday radio show U C Me Radio last Sunday on 100.3 The Beat)……………………………. In unrelated news, former Flava of Love personality Deelishis is getting on the air talking about Nelly and his relationship with R&B singer Ashanti. According to mediatakeout.com the singer/model was on the radio yesterday and she let the cat out of the bag about Ashanti and Nelly's relationship. According to Deelishis - who was at this weekend's BET Hip Hop Honors show in Atlanta - Nelly spent the entire weekend with his girlfriend. And that woman is NOT Ashanti Deelishis claims that Nelly and Ashanti posed as a couple whenever the cameras were around - but when the cameras disappeared - Nelly returned to his actual girlfriend. Hmm, I guess. Err body got an axe to grind I spose, but when I saw them together at the Black and White Ball two months ago at the Chase, they seem to be the happy couple. I mean, they did go up to the red carpet separately (Ashanti , then Nelly), but who knows. When 100.3 The Beat personality Kiki the 1st Lady asked Ashanti about her relationship with Nelly and the possibilities of engagement all she did was laugh and said that Kiki was crazy and that Nelly was a good guy. Hmmm. Well. The only people who know the truth are the sources themselves. But then again. Lets just hope Nelly’s fifth CD, Brass Knuckles’ puts him back in the game when it is released next month cause the first single from the CD, “Whadsyaname” did not do that well on the Billboard music charts………………….

Speaking of STL rappers, sounds like Chingy has a huge hit on his hands. On U C ME Radio last Sunday, Murphy Lee and the gang debuted the new single by Chingy and Amerie called “Fly Like Me.” It’s catchy, smooth R&B song and its on the same vibe as his last hit, “Pulling Me back,” Its the first single off his fourth CD, “Hate it or Love it, ” the second CD on rapper Ludacris’ DTP label, the label that he first debuted in 2002. And Chingy is possessing a new physique these days as he is more gunned out (I guess those reps at Ballys in Clayton paid off. LOL) …………

ST. Louis native/model mogul Kimora Lee Simmons new reality show on Life in the Fab Lane on the Style Network (and reruns on E!)is a hit. It’s the Anna Nicole Show meets Project Runway. One episode in particular Kiddie Coturewhere Kimora introduces a new clothing line for her daughters Ming Lee and Aoki Lee (who are adorable) as well as throw a fashion show for their new collection is something to see especially seeing her daughters approve the drawings of the clothing making the designer sweat bullets! It was also good to see that her ex former Phat Farm CEO Russell Simmons is still in his children’s life as well. . In other Kimora news, on the Tony Scott and the Breakfast Crew show Wednesday during the show’s stay at Antigua, one of the message therapists in training who was being interviewed gave the crew some scoop that Kimora and new love actor/model Djimon Hounsou (PICTURED LEFT) were vacationing there and was getting their message therapy on while sipping champagne. There were also a TV crew there which probably, for her reality show. I Wow, so I guess it is official (I wonder if their canoodling and such started during the filming of Queen Latifah’s flick, Beauty Shop two years ago?)………………Looks like former BET personality and STL native comedian Arvin Mitchell is on the move these days after his second place win on BET's now defunct comedy competition Coming To the Stage in 2005. To get a glimpse of his interview go to http://www.humormill.net/d/web/.......

Yawl got your Hannah Montana tickets when she comes to the Scott Trade Center on Thursday? Kids’ mammas are going crazy for this girl up to the point where according to reports, Ticketmaster had to put up close to 2,00O more additional tickets to the already sold out show that launches in the STL Some soccer moms even wanted to protest for the ticket prices when Internet scalpers had a field day setting their prices originally priced at roughly $65 that reached up to $2,500 - and Ticketmaster was P-d off (Uh Yeah I can see why). But with Missouri law making it legal for scalpers to do their duty that was bound to happen.) All I can say is, I wish I was the tour promoter for that tour, okay?........................Tuesday, Oct. 16, commemorated the 12th anniversary of the Million Man March. Were you there? I was. In 1998, I along with renowned poet Eugene B. Redmond and educator Sherman L. Fowler, we co wrote a book chronicling the March in a book entitled, “Visible Glory: Million Man March.” If you want to purchase a copy, just hit me up on my email at maatspear@yahoo.com................... What’s up with the rat problem in the town of Overland? I hear that the rats are overtaking that area. That’s too much playing……………

Last Sunday, new hip-hop rap group Playas Circle (“Duffle Bag Boy”) made its rounds in the Lou and across the water on the East Side. They spoke on U C ME Radio last Sunday talking about how they got their break with Ludacris’ DTP label, how Nelly and the St. Lunatics showed them love when they were struggling and how they got raw on the mic at the Bet Hip Hop Awards. Later on that night, they performed at Club Society, then made a surprise visit to pet/event coordinator Mocha Latte’s weekly party Sunday Night Shindig at Lucky’s, then crossed the bridge to hit the strip club Bottoms Up for the After Party in Washington Park……………

YOURS TRULY peeped out the new Martin Mondays at AJ’s last Monday. It was the debut of the new venue. It was previously at The Loft until controversy struck in regards to who held the rights to use the name causing its creator Alice Prince to move it to AJ’s. From what I saw the crowd is now more “ivory corporate” types and less “ebony around the way, hood rich types” . The FREE part of the Happy Hour had jazz band Dre Boyd and Friends and guest singer Roland Johnson (PICTURED RIGHT) who was doin a serious Wilson Pickett routine. I hear that 100.3 The Beat’s Craig Blac hosted the party part of the event with DJ Charlie Chan on the 1s and 2s (but I left after the FREE hours). We’ll see how well this venue and event does in the near future………Speaking of venues, I hear that Posh in the Central West End is soon to be, if not already, under new management. According to a source, the establishment will cater to the 35 plus crowd and get away from hip-hop and the patronage that goes with it..............

Last Saturday, before I checked out Tyler Perry’s flick, “Why Did I Get Married,” I peeped out some of the model search that Yani Clothing Line had at I AM Clothing Store in the County. I caught the tail end of it. Yani co-owner Jarred Moore (PICTURED ON FAR LEFT OF PIC) and model search assistant Cerise Cohee (PICTURED ON LEFT OF MOORE) were there auditioning models (PICTURED IS A MODLE HOPEFUL AND HER MOTHER)From my understanding, they have close to 60 models thusfar. The show will be Nov. 11. ( (SEE EVENT-IDBITZ FOR MORE INFO ABOUT THIS EVENT)............................And speaking of Tyler Perry’s flick, did yawl see the Gateway Arch in the opening scenes of "Why Did I Get Married?" I wasn’t expecting that!..............Lastly, Kudos to East St. Louis Mayor Alvin Parks and the city who is gearing up with a Clean Up East ST. Louis campaign and they are seeking volunteers. For more info, call 618.261.8857 or go to http://www.kmox.com/
