If you look closely, brotha man cut off his eyebrows and tatooed the words CRYING FREEDOM on his eyebrows (CRY is on his right and FREEDOM is on his left). The story behind the "brow tatts" is was when he was on lockdown he tatooed the phrase CRY FREEDOM on his eyebrows to represent his desire to get out. He was very generous when I asked if I could take the pic. Good thing he did. Is this the new fashion trend? Ive never seen this in the STL! We will see.

OUT 372--STL TIDBITZ AND MORE!

ITS WEDNESDAY. TIME FOR OUTTOWN!

Hello All

It has been a whole lot goin on this week, so lets get rite to it.

I guess the big newz story wa steh amazing comeback from the Kansas City Jayhwaks this week (Yeah, I know its in Kansas City, but the STL is claiming them too)during the Final Four game. It was the Jayhawks’ Mario Chalmers (PICTURED) who hit a 3-pointer with 2.1 seconds left in regulation to push the game into overtime, and the Jayhawks grinded it out from there for a 75-68 victory Monday night over Memphis in one of the best title games in recent memory. Chalmers' shot pulled Kansas into a tie after being down nine with 2:12 left. "We got the ball in our most clutch player's hands, and he delivered," Kansas coach Bill Self said. It was the first title for Kansas since 1988, when Danny Manning, now an assistant coach for the Jayhawks, led them to an upset of Oklahoma. And the shot earned Chalmers the most outstanding player honor.

Jumpin newz flash, what’s up with this gas, gas gasssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss!

American Airlines has cancelled more than 20 flights at Lambert St. Louis International Airport today, according to the airport's website. The airline is trying for a second time to comply with federal rules about wiring on about 300 of its planes. Airline officials said they canceled a total of about 500 flights Tuesday but didn't know how many would be scrubbed Wednesday. It depended on how quickly the airline could inspect and, if necessary, rework the wiring in its MD-80 aircraft. Since the FAA began looking more closely at airlines' compliance with safety directives, there have been cancellations at Southwest, Delta Air Lines Inc. and UAL Corp.'s United Airlines.

The only candidate officially on the ballot for Kirkwood Mayor has won the election. City Council member Art McDonnell will be the new mayor. Former Council member Connie Karr was among the five people killed in the February city hall shootings. She was also running for mayor. Karr's supporters said going ahead with the election was okay, essentially crowned McDonnell the victor before a single vote was cast. Official election results may not be available for a few days because of voters writing in candidate names.

Slain St. Louis Police Officer Norvelle T. Brown will live on forever in the community he served. Drive past the North Patrol division on Union Blvd and now you’ll see that Margaretta Avenue is now Norvelle T. Brown Ave. The permanent tribute runs a couple of blocks to Geraldine. Officer Brown’s mother says the slain officer was watching the celebration from heaven. Brown was just 22 years old and had been a police officer for just 10 months when he was shot and killed in the line of duty in August 2007. The Illinois Health Facilities Planning Board approved Tuesday morning an application to merge some operations of Kenneth Hall Regional Hospital, East St. Louis, Ill.'s only hospital, to Touchette Regional Hospital in Centreville, Ill. Medical, surgery, outpatient and intensive care unit services will all be moved to Touchette by July 1, according to officials at Southern Illinois Healthcare Foundation, which owns both hospitals. Services that will remain at Kenneth Hall include full emergency room services, acute mental illness services and other ancillary services.

St. Louis Blues left wing player Keith Tkachuk became the 41st player in NHL history to score 500 goals, and added an assist to help the St. Louis Blues beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-1 on Sunday in the season finale for both teams.

The Cards are on a hot streak. As of this writing, the Cards are 6 and 2 winning their last game with the Houston Astros this past Tuesday 5-3 at home. There upcoming games are away from Busch Stadium. They are Wednesday, April 9 at Houston Astros; Thursday, April 10-13 at San Francisco Giants. There next home games are with the Milwaukee Brewers starting April 15. In other Cards newz, former infielder Scott Spezio, pleaded guilty this week at a California court to driving while drunk and under the influence of drugs, in addition to a charge of hit-and-run. Spezio was sentenced to three years probation for the offense. Spezio was charged with driving under the influence on Dec. 30, when he swerved across several lanes and crashed into a fence. Spezio then reportedly ran from the scene of the crash. As part of his sentence, he will have to attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, do community service and pay $390 in fines.Spezio was released from the Cardinals on Feb. 27 after receiving the charges. He now plays under a minor league contract for the Atlanta Braves...................................
In other sports newz on a former STl player, watch for former Rams running back Marshall Faulk to be on TV and radio soon as a spokesman for Chris Auffenberg Chevrolet and Kirkwood Mitsubishi stores. Auffenberg is calling Faulk's series of 60-second radio spots and 30-, 15- and 10-second television spots the "Marshall Plan."

Former Vashon High School coach, Floyd Irons publicly apologized this week for breaking the law using a radio commercial on station 104.1 to reach out to kids as well as his adult supporters. The message sounds upbeat at the beginning, but ends as a tough admission that he failed to meet his own standards. St. Louis radio station 104.1 has been running the ad for more than a week. Earl Wilson, head of the Gateway Classic Sports Foundation is planning a farewell meeting for Irons before he leaves to serve a year in federal prison. As part of his sentence agreement, Irons spoke to the Missouri State High School Activities Association about any violations of athletic rules that occurred while he was coaching basketball at Vashon High School in St. Louis. Happy b-day to poet and educator Dr. Maya Angelou who celebrated her 80th B-day this week. USA today wrote a beautiful article honoring her.In the dining room of her elegantly restored Harlem town house, beneath painted clouds on a light blue ceiling, Maya Angelou is asked how it feels to be turning 80. "Exciting!" she says with a broad smile, then adds: "The body knows. The bones don't let you forget." The woman who defies a simple label — Angelou has been a memoirist, poet, civil rights activist, actress, director, professor, singer and dancer — is getting an early birthday gift. Two longtime friends and her niece, who is Angelou's archivist, have collaborated on an illustrated book, Maya Angelou: A Glorious Celebration (Doubleday, $30), a tribute and scrapbook, that was published Tuesday.

The St. Louis Argus is celebrating its 96th year of publication, which makes it the oldest black-owned business in Missouri. The newspaper was run in its early years by brothers Joseph E. and William Mitchell. Its current publisher, Eddie Hasan, said Tuesday that Oscar-winning actor Lou Gossett will receive the newspaper's Lifetime Achievement award on April 26 at 11:30 a.m. at the Hilton St. Louis at the Ballpark Hotel.
