EVENTZ-VIEWZ

I attended three events back to back to back last Friday. I had help from Mocha Latte who I was playing driving Miss Mocha to that night. LOL Anyway, before I picked up Mocha, I checked out David Cerven's art show, "Art on the Other Side of the Tracks' held at Studio Altius in Maplewood (where I had my fashion show Testoscouture, BTW). It was like a smorgasbord display of local painters and artists work displayed for sell their work to a diverse crowd.
Outside was a cover band (with no name) who performed under a small white tent along with some tables around for peoplelto get a close view of the band.
The patrons were coming strong through the event (I'm sure close to a 1,000 came through) which was also a mini-fair as well. The appetizers were OK. On one side of the studio they had desserts like chocolates, brittle, and cream puffs and wine. The other side of the studio they had veggies, crackers and cheese and the hard liquor like margueritas, beer and vodka tonics provided by Schlafly (AND FREE). I had two marguritas but they were in small plastic cups yet it got my buzz on just enough to hold me over.
Some of the painters/artists whose works were displayed were M Shawn Corenll, Benjamin Guffee,Davud Huth, Anne Ibur, M. Shawn Cornell, Darlene McGee, Lee Shannon Rhodes, Kathryn Redell, and David Cerven.
Afterward, I picked up Mocha around 9ish, and we rolled to Close to Famous' Liason at the #12 Lofts. We parked and walked toward where we thought was the loft building, but we went to the wrong lofts and was about to join some college kids' shindig when we ask if they were a part of Liason. Then we saw a sorority party going on when we looked through some blinds of another loft party. This was too much playin.
We left out of that building and walked across the street where the right loft was. The group who was putting this one on was still waiting to get buzzed up to get in to set up. We chilled there for a minute but the crowd was sparse the time we got therre (the crowd picked up much later ). I took a few camera shots, but what was tripped out was the two of the people who are part of Close To Famous Enterpise are two guys that I see work out together at Bally Gym in Clayton with (one guy is Brian). (I call them the Arrogant Mutt and Jeff gym rats. LOL.)
But the trip part was the drink list. They had their mix--mixed drinks, shots, beer, etc., but the drink list prices was as high as this gas out here. Th highest drink was like 9 dollars (and it was 10 dollars for people to enter) ! Mocha tried to let the group now that the prices were a litlte steep for a house party and that the prices aren't even what the Loft (as in Jazz Loft) even charges. We found out Brian made up the price list and said to Mocha after she confronted him with the prices, "I know how much drinks cost, cause I go out." Okay!Anyway, I think they got it taken care of after Mocha made it known.
After staying for about an hour, we rolled over to Panama Reds where So Diverse (much love to Jamellah E on the guest list hookup) was having their Flaunty Fusion networking party. The crowd was cool. The good thing was one of the patrons, Mr Rodney were buying drinks for people cause of his birthday. I got a Absolut and cranberry and it wa sa sstrong as Popeye after eating spinach. I spent the rest of the night drinking ice water shots so I wouldnt get that hangover the next day (Old college trick). The crowd was modest. I was expecting much more people (like 500 at least) but it was a decent crowd. DJ Reminisce was on the 1s and 2s.
In the house were Big Tah, American Graphc Artist Melvin Moore (Congrats on the new baby), Keith Harris, and photographer Kevin Jordon and Lia who hipped me on the clothing store Pandora's Box after she saw me and complimented me of my wearing my cloud painted jeans. LOL
I stayed til about 2 or so. I was gettin ready to take Mocha back to Liason, but she got a ride with a friend. I decdied to roll back to the EAst Side to the Water Geyser and go in to work to cop some hours.
