OUT 292--RETRO-STL-TIDBITZ (PART THREE)

STL-TIDBITZ (NOV.9- 14, 2006)

I hear that the Missouri Voting Commission still got 5,000 to count after the Nov. 7 elections. These are provisional ballots which came about from those who couldn't identify themselves when they voted. Now they claim that these votes should not discount the McCaskill-stem cell wins, but you know, as Lenny Kravitz say, “It AInt over til it’s over.” Meanwhile, the Voting Commission said that there was a 65 percent turnout in this years Midterm elections which was a most percentage ever for a midterm election…..

Well, STL get ready to get inconvenienced next Spring as the Highway 64 project will close down three lanes to one lane coming and going. This construction company called gateway Construction just secured a $500 million plus contract for bidders to bid on the Highway 64 expansion from Sarah in Midtown to Spoede in the County. Man, this is going to cause major setbacks with err body. I hate to see it during Morning and Rush Hour drives, yet alone an accident. It is going to be like the parking lot at Busch Stadium doing the World Series….

I saw the first of two episodes that STL rapper Chingy taped while on Tyra Banks’ talk show. It was hilarious! Tyra’s show was about women going undercover as men to see how men honestly act around each other. She posed as Uncle D and she used Chingy (Chingy's cousin, up and coming rapper Spiffy was also in the segment) to help her be more of a man (Don’t laugh, yawl).Anyway. The segment was interesting, especially seeing Tyra dressed as an old school hip-hop rapper and her going on Ellen ‘s show to perform with Chingy (SEEN IN PIC ABOVE) and Tyrese (who didn’t have a clue to the joke) and Dj Sno…but there was some underlying things going on too that was very sexually ambiguous. One, being Tyra wanted Chingy to kiss her while she was in male drag (mustache and all) and he kissed her, but it looked very image damaging in regards to Chingy’s hip-hop masculine image. Then, while sitting on the coach on her show, Chingy said that kissing Uncle D was cool (HUH?) but he wanted a kiss from Tyra and she obliged and the kiss looked sloppy and he looked uncomfortable and giddy. Well according to Star Magazine, the same source I used a couple a weeks ago, “Tyra tried to kiss Chingy, and he seemed to be taken aback by her forwardness,” an audience member told. Yep, and it showed. It took him totally off guard . It looked like Tyra wanted tongue, but Chingy double dipped and slipped.Well, November is sweeps month and I guess Chingy’s gave a thumbs up on this stunt. And if his sells of his 3rd CD, "Hood Star" is any indication, I don’t think it will help jump start sells of his CD (which barely went gold)… ….

Cardinals Center fielder Jim Edmonds finalized a two-year contract extension with the World Series team. He’s the team’s longest-tenured player (GEE, I WONDER WHY) as well as its RBI leader the past post-season. The extension was a compromise of sorts. The club held a $10 million option on Edmonds for next season, or it could have exercised a $3 million buyout.MAN, LOOKS LIE A WIN-WIN TO ME!The agreement included an average annual value below $10 million with “significant” money deferred, according to a source familiar with negotiations.I guess Edmonds was able to sign that contact with his good arm right before he underwent shoulder surgery. Now what about Preston’s extension and bonus?.....

Speaking of surgery, Rams offensive tackle Orlando Pace tore his triceps muscle last Sunday during the game with Seattle. He will undergo an MRI nest week. Now that he’s out for the season, I guess he will have even more time going out to the clubs to party. Ooops.................I heard that local model/agent Lady attended the BET Awards in Hotlanta. I will try and call her to get the skinny on what was going on behind the scenes and at the parties next week….

Finally, Fox 2 news reporter Elliott Davis is getting his chance to shine as Fox 2 is giving him this week to highlight the Top 10 best YOU PAID FOR IT segments since he started producing them 15 years ago. You can catch them at 9 p.m. on Fox 2 (or go to
http://www.myfoxstl.com/) Next up I’m sure he will get his own spin-off YOU PAID FOR IT show. Its just gotta happen…..East St. Louis police are investigating the death of a prisoner in the city's jail over the weekend. Kensey Lewis, 29, was taken to the jail last Saturday night. By 8:30 a.m. Sunday, he was dead. Relatives say police could have prevented the death if they had taken him to the hospital instead of jail. Friends allege he was drinking and taking muscle relaxers in a suicide attempt. This is too bizarre. Could it be foul play? Who knows, I’m sure East ST. Louis Monitor News will be on the case on this one (or I can always talk to my police cop buddy who live down the street from me)!......

I got an email from jazz radio personality Edie B that was written by East St. Louis-based singer Phil Perry’s wife. The subject was for us to VOTE Phil Perry Male Vocalist of the Year - Soul TracksDear Phil Perry & Edie B fans,(Can you hear me "East Boogie"?)Phil had a ball 'back home' and his show was unplugged, un-canned soulfully romantic music magic. Here's an excerpt of a letter from his wife to Edie. You can hear her on WESL 1490 AM on Sundays from 1 to 3 PM. Listen on-line at http://www.1490wesl.com./

.Please be aware that Phil is nominated as Male Vocalist of the Year on the Soul Tracks website, we would really appreciate it if you tell your listeners to VOTE for Phil before November 15th (Wednesday). If they go to www.philperry.net and click on the link to Soul Tracks, they can cast their vote (one vote per computer) - so we really need to spread the word quickly. To my recollection, Phil has never won any awards in his career. He has Grammies for work he has done on everyone else's projects, but none for him. He doesn't seem to mind, but I would really love to see him receive some recognition at this point in his six solo album career (not to mention the vast body of work he has done with other artists).Any help you could give us will be greatly appreciated, Edie!!Remember, November 15th is the deadling {SIC} for VOTES!!!Thanks in advance, my sister!Lill PerryAlthough the deadline was the 15th, a day before my publishing this post, I hoped people voted for this underrated talented brother from our hood.......I got a call from Leata Land of the Platinum Group (Not Ms. Price. LOL) and she wants me to hip yawl to her upcoming annual Platinum Christmas party at the Casa Lama Ballroom (Is it X-mas time already?). It will held Dec. 9. I will get more details about this party must-go next week……..Thanks again for err body checking out the Jibbs CD release party footage at Club Dolce on YOUTUBE . As of this writing, the hits went up from 104 to 132 and someone has made this post as their favorite! Thanks a million. If you wanna watch it, paste the following address
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nXfbk28lXqs
in the top search window . I will keep tabs on how many hits I get in upcoming weeks (You can also make comments on the YOUTUBE page about my movie as well.)........................................

UNITY RALLY FOR RACIAL & SOCIAL JUSTICE, Sunday, November 18, 2007
3:00 p.m.Gateway Classic Foundation ( 20th Street & Martin Luther King Blvd. )
A STATE OF EMERGENCY now exists with race relations in St. Louis . The mayor just ousted and publicly humiliated the City’s first and only black fire chief, and then immediately promoted 27 white firefighters, while promoting only 7 blacks – in a city where blacks are 52% of the population.

The mayor has a history of playing racial politics, and a history of ignoring the wishes of the people. The Unity Rally is to show the power of the people – of all races – to stand against this racial and social injustice.

Unity Rally Sponsored By Citizens to Support Fire Chief George, St. Louis Clergy Coalition, Citizens to Recall Francis G. Slay, Gateway Green Alliance, State Representative Jamilah Nasheed.
