On Veteran’s Day, the erection ceremony of The St. Louis Fisher House was held on Tuesday, Veterans Day, for the new housing at the Jefferson Barracks campus of the St. Louis VA Medical Center. Missouri is still too close to call in the Presidential election. Last week OUTTOWN stated that Missouri was still a close call and that MCcain may swing the vote to his side, things still may look as though Obama may win it. After Election day, McCain led Obama by 5,859 votes out of more than 2.9 million cast, a margin of two-tenths of one percentage point. There were about 7,000 provisional ballots and some scattered absentee ballots being vetted by local election officials before they certify their results to the state on Nov. 18. Though the outcome in Missouri will affect only the scope of Obama’s victory, a McCain win would mark only the second time in the past 100 years that Missouri has not sided with the presidential election winner. It would mark the third consecutive election, and eighth in the past 11 dating to 1968, in which the state has gone Republican for president.

Ok Missouri, you have “showed out” long enuff! LOL.

Two restaurant workers were found dead inside an all-night Steak 'n Shake in South St. Louis County early this morning. Police identified them as Tammy Cantrell, a waitress, of south St. Louis County and Mark Gerstner, a cook, of Arnold. Both were fatally shot.

The bodies of the workers were found inside the store at 5828 South Lindbergh Boulevard.. Police believe that the store was being robbed between 2:30 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. when the two workers were killed. It appears the business had closed at midnight for extermination efforts for pest control and was scheduled to reopen this morning. The bug spraying had already been completed and the two victims were in the restaurant preparing to open the store when the crime occurred.

A vendor on his regular route went into the restaurant about 4:50 a.m. and found one of the victims in the back of the store. When emergency crews arrived, they found a second worker inside the store. The two bodies were not found near one another, police said.

Investigators were studying store receipts to see if they could pinpoint what time the killings occurred. They are also reviewing surveillance tapes from the restaurant and surrounding businesses. Police have no suspects at this time. Police said there was a lot of blood found inside.

On Tuesday, dozens of friends and family members lit candles and huddled close outside the restaurant. They listened to the words and prayers of several clergy members

The St. Louis County Police Department asked this afternoon for the public's help to learn more about the killings. Anyone with information is asked to call the department at 314-889-2341 or CrimeStoppers at 1-866-371-TIPS.

About 250 people attended a unity rally last Saturday in response to a National Socialist Movement parade and demonstration originally planned for downtown Columbia.

Law enforcement officers cordoned off the Capitol steps in order to keep observers and protesters at a safe distance as the neo-Nazis began their address at the Capitol building on Saturday afternoon. Two teenage girls perform the national anthem at the beginning of the speech. The National Socialist Movement rally brought about 50 demonstrators, including women and children — one of whom was being pushed in a stroller — to the steps of the state Capitol for a two-hour demonstration. Shoemaker estimated about 90 people, most of whom were journalists, attended the group’s rally.
At the National Socialist Movement rally, police arrested two people on suspicion of assault and resisting arrest. Both were counter-demonstrators who assaulted National Socialist Movement members and a police officer, Shoemaker said.

Across town at the unity rally, the environment was much warmer and more organized, said, a Columbia resident who attended both rallies..
The unity rally featured speeches from Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder as well as representatives from the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the Anti-Defamation League, Lincoln University and several religious groups.

The National Socialist Movement applied in August to hold a rally and parade in Columbia, but police denied the request, saying they did not have the resources to manage both the rally and a home MU football game against Kansas State University on the same day.

What’s interesting is, reports don’t really state what the Neo Nazis were protesting about???

Meanwhile, a Madison County grand jury will hear the results of an investigation into the shooting.

Data thieves are blackmailing a St. Louis based Express Scripts a U.S. prescription drug management company threatening to release millions of patient records held by the company unless they pay up. Is extorting money for data -the sign of things to come in this down economy? Historical data proves that when the economy is down, identity theft and white collar crime spikes -and criminals continue to find new and innovative ways to steal, hack or pilfer data! Express Scripts, said last hursday it received a letter in early October with the names, birth dates, Social Security numbers and some prescription information for at least 75 patients. The company provides benefit management services to health care organizations, insurers and other businesses. The FBI is investigating these threats and Express Scripts is offering
credit monitoring services and has dedicated a website to provide information on this incident to its customers, and those who this breach may affect.
Express Scripts website states:"In early October, Express Scripts received a letter from an unknown person or persons trying to extort money from the company. This unknown person or persons threatened to expose millions of the company's members' records on the Internet if the extortion threat was not met. The extortion letter included personal information on 75 members including their social security numbers, addresses, dates of birth, and in some cases, prescription information.Express Scripts notified the FBI immediately after receiving the letter and there is an official investigation underway. We also notified the members whose information was contained in the extortion letter. The company has also launched its own investigation with the help of top experts in data security and computer forensics. While we are unaware at this time of any actual misuse of any members' information, we understand the concern that this situation has caused our members.
Scary.

The suggestions that Democrat Jay Nixon got more Missouri votes than Barack Obama on ELECTION DAY because of racism drew a spirited objection Thursday from Gov. Matt Blunt and alternative explanations from other political observers.

The race explantion was advanced on last Wednesday by St. Louis University political scientist Ken Warren, who conducted an exit poll for the Beacon (SLU’s newspaper) . Noting that Obama “got more votes in the St. Louis area than Claire McCaskill did in her Senate race in 2006 but failed to add enough outstate votes to defeat John McCain,”Warren cited what he called "a redneck vote in the rural areas."

He said people tend to vote for candidates who are like them, and the overwhelmingly white population in outstate Missouri is "uncomfortable with people they are not familiar with."
That observation was roundly criticized Thursday by Blunt, who called Warren's assertions "abhorrent" and said they should be "condemned by officials in both political parties."

"Ken Warren's allegation that President-elect Obama lost Missouri because 'the racist vote in rural Missouri cost him the state' is not only detestable, it is absolutely incorrect," Blunt said in a statement issued by his office.
"Both the liberal New York Times and conservative Wall Street Journal published articles today on how race was a relatively minor factor in electing our new president."
Responding to Blunt, Warren said Thursday, "The governor has no legs to stand on. He would be foolish to deny the numerous studies on race and voting behavior." Warren continued, "I never said rural people wouldn't vote for a black. I said some rural people feel uncomfortable voting for a black."
Hmm, we think Warren brings out intersteing points about his findings. We say, Warren and Blunt do a te-ta-te debate and put it on PBS. What yawl think?

U.S. Rep. Jerry Costello just won re-election on Tuesday night, but his name was mentioned for a possible Cabinet appointment in President-elect Barack Obama's administration.

Bloggers to the political blog "Daily Kos" and the biweekly magazine "The American Prospect" and the Washington, D.C., publication "Roll Call" have mentioned Costello, D-Belleville, as a possible appointment as Obama's Transportation secretary.
But Costello said Wednesday he won't pursue the nomination.
"It's an honor to be mentioned as a candidate, but I would expect a number of qualified candidates are also being considered and would be very happy to pursue the nomination," Costello said.

Hmmm, it seem like Costello is waiting until the right time to say YES or NO. Maybe in January?

Illinois political insiders say Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., , is the favorite to replace Barack Obama in the Senate. This gives Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, who must choose between an African-American political scion and a close ally of the labor movement, a difficult decision.
Jackson has made plain that he would like to succeed Obama in the Senate.
Jackson’s case is strengthened by the fact that Obama is the only African-American member of the Senate. Presumably, Obama would like to see at least one African-American representative in the chamber.
Jackson also benefits from being co-chairman of Obama’s presidential campaign and a product of the same South Side Chicago political machine from which the Democratic nominee emerged.
Illinois political insiders, who declined to discuss the subject on the record for fear of appearing presumptuous before the results of the presidential race are known, say Obama would have a major hand in the decision.
But it’s not a slam-dunk for Jackson. Blagojevich must pick a candidate who can hold the seat in 2010, when the temporary two-year appointment would expire.

What do you think? Do you think he got a shot.? And on an interesting tidbit, Barack Obama’s daughter Sasha’s god mother is Jesse Jackson Sr’s daughter Santita and Michelle Obama and Jackson's daughter, Santita, are best friends. Hmmmm.

Russell Todd McBride, 46, of Creve Coeur, and Robert Wrolstad, 59, of O’Fallon, have have been charged in a 34-count indictment for their alleged involvement in a “major” mortgage fraud scheme involving the sale of residential real estate in Sikeston,

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
McBride, operator of
Century Mortgage and Finance Inc., which provided mortgage-related services and had offices St. Louis County, Sikeston and Cape Girardeau, and Wrolstad, who worked with McBride at Century, bought Sikeston real estate and would sell the properties at or near fair market value to investors recruited by and known to McBride and Wrolstad, according to the indictment.

But the investors paid prices “significantly greater” than the actual selling price received by the sellers for the properties, according to Hanaway’s office. The investors would purchase the property at a fraudulent and overvalued price by obtaining loans to purchase the property.

As part of the scheme, McBride and Wrolstad obtained appraisals that overvalued the properties, allowing them to personally obtain inflated loan proceeds.
McBride told investors the residential real estate properties were good investment properties, that the rents would pay the mortgage, that the properties could be acquired with “no money down,” and that the properties could be sold, sometimes in approximately a year, at a profit, according to the indictment.

As part of the scheme, McBride and Wrolstad are alleged to have also paid investors as an inducement for them to purchase residential real estate funded by loans brokered through Century Mortgage. In one case a purchaser paid $66,000 for a property that the seller sold for $7,500.

Former Overland Attorney Eric Tolen got 65 years this week for molesting five teenage boys. Tolen merely nodded at the hearing in Clayton when St. Louis County Circuit Court Judge John Ross said he would be handed over to prison officials. At one point, Tolen glanced in the direction of several of the victims and their families, who were seated in the courtroom. Some of them sobbed.
The judge said Tolen, 47, squandered his skills and opportunity to make a positive difference.
Ross sentenced Tolen to 25 years for crimes against one victim that included first-degree statutory sodomy, plus an additional 10 years each for four other victims connected to second-degree statutory sodomy convictions. He was also fined $5,000 on a conviction for witness tampering.Tolen was convicted Sept. 19 by a jury that did find him not guilty on one count of attempted statutory sodomy.Victims testified that Tolen hired them to do odd jobs around his home in Olivette, and after 2000, at his home in Town and Country. They were 13 to 15 at the time. They said they agreed to sex acts in exchange for gifts, such as motorcycles, bicycles or cigarettes.Dressed in a jail jumpsuit, with his hands shackled at his waist, he spoke Friday in regard to several legal matters but declined when asked if he had anything to say before sentencing.
According to a source, an appeal and an injunction for retrial has been filed.

Rams running back Steven Jackson did not play in last Sunday’s game with Jets 47-3 Jackson’s thigh, who is inactive for Sunday's game against the Jets, may also miss next week's contest at San Francisco, according to ESPN reports. St Louis Rams coach Jim Haslett announced running back Steven Jackson has been ruled out of Sunday's contest against the New York Jets.
After Jackson missed his third consecutive practice on last Friday, Haslett reiterated his stance that the running back would not play if he could not practice."
After sitting out Week Eight with the injury, Jackson struggled during last Sunday's 34-13 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
Hmm, hopefully Jackson is ready to play again soon. But hey at least the kids will see him use his smile and hands when he makes his appearance for his Second Annual A Family Affair on Thursday at J.Buck’s in Clayton where he is scheduled to sign autograophs and take pics with his fans.
In related news, Haslett felt humiliated of St. Louis Rams 's performance in a 47-3 loss to the New York Jets on Sunday. The 44-point margin of defeat made it the third worst loss in Rams history behind a 48-0 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Dec. 27. 1987, and a 47-0 to the Chicago Bears on Nov. 29, 1942.

Humiliated? Maybe deafeated, but humiliated? Yowsah!

25-year-old William Bowen of St. Louis was sentenced to two years in federal prison for his role in the spray-painting of racial threats and epithets on an Illinois home where a black couple lived with a white friend.
A federal judge in East St. Louis ordered him to serve simultaneously terms of 25 months and one year for two felony counts linked to the graffiti in March 2003.

A co-defendant, 25-year-old Joe Brown, awaits sentencing after admitting he encouraged Bowen to spray paint the Collinsville home. Authorities say he hoped to scare away the home's residents.
Both Brown and Bowen are white. Bowen had pleaded guilty in July to civil rights violations. Brown will be sentenced in February.

According to MediaTakeout.com, William Balfour is likely to remain behind bars at least three more weeks while police continue to investigate the triple homicide of actress
Jennifer Hudson's family.Illinois prison officials Monday ordered that Balfour, the lone known suspect in the case, continue to be held on a parole violation at least until a Dec. 3 hearing. At a closed hearing in Stateville Correctional Center in Crest Hill, investigators presented evidence that Balfour had a gun matching the weapon used in the Oct. 24 slayings of Hudson's brother, mother and young nephew, Jorge Montes, chairman of the Illinois Prisoner Review Board, said later.
Prosecutors have not charged Balfour, 27, a former convict, with any crime related to the murders. The Prisoner Review Board's chief reason for holding Balfour was a report from Cook County prosecutors that his girlfriend, identified as Shonta Cathey, said she saw him holding a gun that matched the color of the murder weapon, Montes said.

In addition, the board said he had violated parole by being in locations where drugs were sold. That allegation stemmed from a June 19 drug arrest, but Balfour's parole was not revoked at that time, and the charge was later dropped.During the hearing, Balfour protested the evidence that authorities used to hold him, Montes said.
Balfour, who has been estranged from his wife, Julia Hudson, sister of the Oscar-winning actress, has been on parole since his release from prison for a 1999 attempted murder conviction. If the board continues to revoke his parole, Balfour could be held to the end of his sentence in May 2009.After Balfour was questioned by Chicago detectives for 48 hours, his parole was revoked following the murders. He has been held in Stateville since Oct. 26.Balfour acknowledged being at the Hudson's Englewood home on the morning that the actress' mother and brother were gunned down inside the house, law enforcement sources said. Julia Hudson's son, Julian, 7, was abducted and three days later his body was found.

Jennifer Hudson's sister Julia has provoked outrage with new photos on a social networking website by allegedly posting the pictures with insensitive captions referring to the murder of her brother last month in their native Chicago, Illinois.

The siblings' mother, Darnell Donerson, and brother, Jason, were found shot dead at their home in the city on 24 October (08). The singer/actress' seven-year-old nephew, Julian King-son of Julia-was also killed; his body was found in an abandoned car three days later.
According to website TMZ.com, one particular photo featuring Julia with two pals is captioned: "Now that Jason's gone I'm the prettiest one."

Julia's estranged husband, William Balfour, is still being held by police in connection to the murders, although he has yet to be charged.

A spokesperson for Hudson could not be reached for comment.
In unrelated news, Barack Obama's Inauguration in January will have a special meaning to millions of American. But it may be especially meaningful for actress and singer Jennifer Hudson.MediaTakeOut.com has learned that president elect Barack Obama's staff have reached out to Jennifer Hudson's people, and offered her the chance to perform at the inauguration - assuming she's up to it.

Let's hope and pray she does.

Bail has been revoked for former SIUE student Olutosin Oduwole after he allegedly tried to buy a handgun while awaiting trial.
Oduwole, 23, is under indictment on charges of attempting to make a terrorist threat in July 2007. He is accused of planning a Virginia Tech-type school massacre, based on a note found in his car by SIUE police and a loaded handgun found in his dorm room.

Witnesses testified Monday that Oduwole recently attempted to buy a .45-caliber semiautomatic handgun from a Hazelwood, Mo., gun dealer, arranging the transaction throughAuctionArms.com.

In filling out the required forms, Oduwole answered "no" to a question asking whether he is under indictment for a felony. The gun dealer, Keith Kemper, of Hazelwood, ran the national background check and was told he could not sell to Oduwole.

The national system then alerted agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, leading to Oduwole's re-arrest.
Oduwole never actually received the Tanfoglio handgun, for which he paid $340.
Attorney Jeffrey Urdangen of Northwestern University School of Law defended Oduwole for the motion, arguing that the $1.1 million bail already set for the case is excessive and that Oduwole feared for his life based on threats since his original arrest.

In July 2007, SIUE Police found Oduwole's car on North University Drive with a handwritten note that threatened "a murderous rampage" if money was not wired to a Paypal account. He is charged with attempting to make a terrorist threat, a Class 1 felony. He was expelled from SIUE and has been living with his mother in St. Louis.

On today, Wednesday morning, after a majority of Anheuser Bush B shareholders today approved the sale to InBev during a special shareholder meeting in New Jersey. The deal calls for the Belgian brewer to buy the St. Louis-based beer giant for 70-dollars a share. A closing date hasn't been announced, but InBev hopes to have the transaction finalized by the end of the year. could cease to exist as an independent company. A-B shareholders voted in New Jersey on selling the St. Louis-based brewery to InBev, the global brewing conglomerate.
And while the road to the sale is wide open there are some major potholes ahead. For one thing, the deal was approved at $70 a share cash. Some European financial publications have speculated that InBev might offer a combination of cash and stock but that would kill the deal since the agreement was cash only.
InBev has not yet been able to float all of the $45 billion in international bank loans it needs to pay for the deal. For another, InBev’s stock price is down more than one-third since September.

Meanwhile, in Secaucus New Jersey Tuesday, Marin Institute attended what may well be the last ever Anheuser-Busch (A-B) shareholder meeting held on U.S. soil. Marin Institute thinks its not a good deal and that"A-B leadership has compromised the financial security of its employees and their respective communities that depend upon the company's economic contribution."

Though the takeover includes a tentative "good faith commitment" that InBev will not close any of A-B's current 12 U.S. breweries, there are loopholes. For example, increased federal or state beer taxes or "unforeseen extraordinary events" that negatively impact business could allow InBev to renege on that promise, leaving A-B's breweries and their tens of thousands of employees vulnerable to closures.

St. Louis comedian Cedric the Entertainer (PICTURED RIGHT)is on a roll these days in his career. Last weekend, his movie, “Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa” was the No. 1 movie and brought in a whopping $63.5 million at the box office beating out the debut of the first “Madagascar” released in 2005, by almost $15 million.
The voices include Cedric the Entertainer who returned as his role as the voice of Maurice the lemur for the sequel which is about talking animals that crash land in Central Africa

On Halloween, Cedric could be seen in the recently previewed, American Buffalo at the Belasco Theatre.
Directed by Robert Falls, the production will officially open on Broadway Nov. 17. The cast of the Chicago-set tale features John Leguizamo, Cedric the Entertainer and "Sixth Sense" Oscar nominee Haley Joel Osment.

American Buffalo, according to press notes, "follows three small-time crooks who wax philosophically about society while conspiring to steal a rare and valuable coin from a neighborhood collector. Volcanic and motor mouthed Teach (Leguizamo) schemes and spars with fatherly, street-smart junk shop owner Donny (Cedric the Entertainer) enlisting Bobby (Osment), a slow-witted and desperate young delinquent, to carry out their misbegotten robbery."

For the first time the play features a multiracial cast, with a Latino, a Caucasian and an African American."We think this play becomes even more relevant. The play seems so current because of the casting ... it feels like America is today," said Cedric from Auburn Pub.com .
Any bets of a possible Tony Award nod for Ced? We’ll see what the critics has to say when it opens this month.

East St. Louis bred singer Akon wants to be the first black James Bond and said he would pick Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger as his love interest.
Thesun.co.uk reports him as saying, "My ideal Bond girl would be Nicole. I think she'd be perfect. Lewis wouldn't mind if I borrowed her for a minute. He seems like a pretty secure guy. He's handsome and a world champion. I don't think he'd be worried".
Akon is even making plans to fund his own Bond venture if the present producers refuse to sign him. He said, "a lot of people don't know that I'm heavily trained in martial arts. And when it comes to cars - that's my thing. I was raised on cars. I could do acting. It would probably take me six months to a year of training to make sure I'd get the role. I could handle that role, no problem. If I don't ever get the opportunity then I'm gonna shoot my own.
In related Akon news, we guess he is holding onto to his US residency passport now that Barack Obama was elected President last Tuesday. Prior to the elections, the Grammy-winning, multi-platinum-selling R&B star, said that he will renounce his US citizenship and leave the country if
John McCain won next the presidential election.
The singer, was born in Senegal (and raised in the St. Louis area) and plans to return to Africa should
Barack Obama fail to become the United States' 44th President.
"If he [Obama] doesn't get into office, I'm gonna change my citizenship," he said. "I'm moving back to Africa. You can hold me to that. I'm afraid to live there if he [McCain] is President. The decisions he makes scare me: he's making selfish decisions, he's doing whatever it takes to get into office."

Akon cited the selection of
Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as McCain's running-mate as one of the decisions that gave him concern. "I don't think he's going to last eight years," he said, referring to McCain, "so she's definitely going to be president. Oh my goodness - that's scarier. And who would be her running mate? Joe the Plumber?

" The singer, was unable to vote due to a previous felony conviction, that of gun possession in 1998. He received 3 years probation after pleading guilty..

Well, we could see if Akon could vote, but err okay.

MediaTakeOut.com has caught wind that a new lawsuit is brewing that may bring unneeded embarrassment to the relationship of Djimon Honsou and St. Louis model mogul Kimora Lee Simmons.
Here's how the NY Post is reporting it:

A top Hollywood talent agent - repeatedly insulted his clients, stole gifts sent to them, and discussed their private parts, a bombshell lawsuit alleges. Former assistant Heather Devlin charges in a sexual harassment suit filed last week in LA Superior Court that Todd Shemarya, co-founder of Todd Shemarya Associates, created a hostile working environment by "parading naked" in front of her, forcing her to take dictation as he used the bathroom, and exposing her to computer porn - including a woman with a horse. The suit also claims Shemarya: “Said he was disgusted that Djimon Hounsou was dating Kimora Lee Simmons because she was a "cheap dirty w*****."
Oh my. That’s too much playin, for real. We hope that Simmons files her own lawsuit for slander.

From the shut down of I-64 to Steve Fawcett's plane wreckage found, Kimora Lee Simmons' homecoming to St. Louis during STL Spring Fashion Week to Obama's historic Rally in October at the Gateway Arch, and Loosecannon's Fortune NYE Bash at 555 Building to the Riverfront Times' Best of the RFT party held recently at Skybox, The STL has had its share of newsworthy events , provacative people and bitz-makers that has made an impact in 2008.Next month, OUTTOWN will have its annual Best of the STL 2008 Countdown Blog that will be posted Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008.
On that blog, we will have countdowns of the Top Ten News Stories of 2008, the Top Ten STL Social Events of 2008, and The Top Ten Socialites/Promoters of 2008.We will also have the Top Ten Too Much Playin Pics captured by the OUTCAM, national Celebs who came through the STL, and the Many Faces of Ma'at on the Social scene.
So what do you think should be the #1 STL news story, social event and socialite/promoter in the STL?Hit us up at outtown62221@yahoo.com and we will tabulate Blog Reader's Choices as well.

And lastly, there was a very candid moment Wednesday on the Tom Joyner Morning Show, syndicated here in the STL area at Foxy 95.5, when a caller by the name of Stephen from Harvey, Illinois called up to the show to talk with Tom Joyner. On the show, he said that he was contemplating suicide because he was going from job to job , and that his wife did not support him in his struggles to find permanent work. He said he called the show to get someone to help him. The TJMS Crew tried giving him solutions such as prayer, going to a minister and so forth, until Joyner, who was very concerned of his well being, reached out to motivational speaker Iyanla Van Zandt and got her to be his life coach right while on air and when needed. .

Are you looking for something a little different this holiday season? Something to get you out of the house? How much reality TV can America stomach? How about giving a self-proclaimed "loser" a million dollars, follow him around for a week, then let the TV audience decide if he "dies quietly in his sleep," "gets hit by a bus," or by "a chainsaw accident!" Disgustingly amoral, absolutely hysterical and certainly devoid of good taste, The Dead Guy is the must-see theatrical event of the season. Using live action video, as well as projection, intelligent lighting, and a generous helping of plasma screen technology, HotCity turns the Kranzberg Arts Center into a virtual TV studio where we present, in glorious technicolor, the fraying ethics of our TV culture.

When:Nov. 21st through Dec. 6th Thursdays and Fridays - 8pmSaturdays - 3pm and 8pmSundays - 7pmIn respect of turkeys everywhere, there will be no show on Thanksgiving!

Where:
The Kranzberg Arts Center - in the Big Brothers Big Sisters Building; 501 N. Grand in Grand Center.

Ticket Info:
General Admission tickets are
$25 for adults and $20 for seniors (62+)

Actress Shawn Guy Pitts is seeking help: Just last month, she received my official certificate as a certified trained S.A.R.T. Advocate through the YWCA.S.A.R.T. stands for Sexual Assault Response Team.As an advocate, she will be on-call to respond to victims of sexual assault and rape that present to the emergency room and provide them with support, empowerment, and resources. Some of you were lovely to attend her one-woman show put on in July 2007 that was about sexual abuse. At the end of the show, she encouraged all attendees that if they knew anyone who may have been or is a victim to go to the YWCA Sexual Assault Center.Well this year, she would like to take it a step further. As with any non-profit organization, funds are always an issue. This year, the deficit is even greater as well as the number of women who are beginning to report these devastating crimes. We are approaching the holiday season, which for many is a time of giving and sharing. She ask that you PLEASE consider donating money to the Sexual Assault Center.Remember, we love our mothers, aunts, grandmothers, sisters, nieces, wives, girlfriends, and daughters. And guess what? Sexual abuse, assault, and/or rape can happen to ANY of them. Women (and sometimes men) present to the emergency room from all walks of life, economic standing, and backgrounds as victims. The YWCA Sexual Assault Center provides counseling, clothing, advocacy, resources, etc. to victims.
