The crowd up in VIP
More of the crowd in VIP.
Earlier that Sunday, 1000s among 1000s packed Tower Grove Park for the Annual Pridefest.
One of the perfromers was dance legend Martha Wash.
She performed most of the songs we are familiar with. She started off with C and C Music Factory's "Gonna Make You Sweat." EVERYBODY DANCE NOW!
Next up was Black Box's "Everybody Everybody." As she sang, the rain started falling (Isn't that ironic especially going with her dance anthem, It's Raining Men?" LOL) Unfortunately there was a tech problem and made this track start to skip to the Everybody Dance Now song. She handled the soundman with grace and mamma diva concern and continued on.
The crowd was all into her powerful gospel vocals. Even though she told the crowd she was a bit hoarse, she sounded better hoarse than most singers in perfect voice!
She also performed her #1 dance hits, "Takin Over," and "Carry On."
The encore was the iconic hit, "Its Raining men," as she had the crowd do a sing along with her. The songs she didnt perform surprisingly were Black Box's "Strike It Up" (which we were waiting for), "Pride (A Deeper Love)," and m,aybe a samll tribute to Sylvester. The 30 minute show was all we got (of an hour timeslot!) and we wanted more!
