Also, be lookin out in in the last Wednesday of this month for my cover story with Brian Stemmons, doorman and owner of Frontline Protection and his take on the STL club scene in my story, "VIp Check: A Doorman's P.O.V. of the STL Club Scene."

AND NOW ON TO THE BLOG:

THE KINGDOM STARS OSCAR AWARD® WINNER JAMIE FOXX
AND AN ALL-STAR CAST

Oscar® winner Jamie Foxx stars in a thriller right out of today’s headlines about the explosive clash that happens when Middle East meets West in The Kingdom, directed by Peter Berg. Foxx is joined by an extraordinary cast -- Oscar® winner Chris Cooper (Adaptation, Breach) and Golden Globe winners Jennifer Garner (Daredevil, Catch and Release) and Jason Bateman (Smokin’ Aces, The Break-Up).

Universal Pictures will release The Kingdom nationwide on Friday, September 28.

Foxx portrays whip-smart FBI Special Agent Ronald Fleury, who has just received the assignment of his career: assemble a team to go to Riyadh to hunt down and capture the terrorist mastermind behind a deadly attack on Americans working in Saudi Arabia. The feds have only one week to infiltrate and cripple a cell bent on jihad to western society.

No training could prepare Fleury and his team for the disorienting culture shock they face once inside this scorching foreign land—a byzantine maze of profiteering politicians and storefront terrorists. Bound by handlers who refuse to play ball with the U.S., the agents quickly find the local law enforcement more hindrance than help and soon grow uncertain of anybody’s allegiance.

But when a sympathetic Saudi police captain helps them navigate Riyadh politics and investigate the true cause of the attack, Fleury finds an unexpected comrade-in-arms. In their lightning fast attempt to crack the case, the partners’ search leads them straight to the killers’ front door. Now in a fight for their own lives, two teams on opposite sides of the war on terror won’t stop until vengeance is found in The Kingdom.

The filmmakers knew when they were searching for an action star to play the head of an elite FBI task force, they should turn to Oscar® winner Jamie Foxx. Mann handed the screenplay to Foxx on the set of Miami Vice. The actor responded to Fleury’s pain at losing an old friend in the bombing…and his desire for revenge.

Notes Foxx, “Fleury has to deal with the fact that his views on the war on terror change completely when someone he and his family love and admire loses his life. Death has been brought to his doorstep, and he must decide how to deal with it.”
Producer Mann commends, “Jamie can project himself so thoroughly into characters and identities. He’s absolutely credible to me as somebody in the FBI—there is a seriousness of intent that these folks have.”

Producer Stuber was in agreement. During his time at Universal, Stuber oversaw several projects in which Foxx would star. From Ray to Jarhead and Miami Vice, the filmmaker had worked with Foxx and pursued him for the starring role in The Kingdom.

To prepare for their roles, Foxx, Cooper, Garner and Bateman trained with real FBI agents at bomb classes in Los Angeles. They learned the basics of high and low explosives, use of guns, finger printing and methods for collecting forensic information. It was also a practical experience where they observed the personalities of the agents.

“For the real guys, dealing with explosive and threats was just another day in the office. They joked and kept things light. I brought that attitude to my role as FBI Special Agent Ron Fleury,” Foxx confides.

STL-TIDBITZ.The top chiefs in the city are getting their share of newz this week. First, the STL Fire Chief Promotions controversy is heatin up even more this week. Now the boss to Fire Chief Sherman George Public Safety Director Sam Simon (not Mayor Francis Slay as I reported last week who was boss to Simon) George's immediate boss at City Hall, quit to become head of campus security at St. Louis University. Just days ago, Simon threatened George with disciplinary action if he didn’t promote African Americans in the fire department based upon the court ruling that the tests that were administered to the firefighters were not racially based. The deadline is Sept 14 (this Friday) and Simon took a hike from having to do a disciplinary act to George of George didn’t make the deadline. To make matters even more stranger, Slay hired veteran aide Charles Bryson as a replacement, putting one of his most trusted advisers at the helm of a delicate situation. And Bryson is African American. Can we say the race card is being used by white people. Probably so. To have Bryson to fire George if need be, then the blow wouldn’t cause potential unrest with blacks inside and outside of the department. This is getting crazy for real…...............The other was St. Louis Police chief Joe Mowka who, at this printing, will hear form his peers if he has the trust of them to lead them. On Wednesday, the executive board of the St. Louis Police Officers Association is asking its 1200 members to vote.A general membership meeting will take place Wednesday night at 7 p.m. Officers will have a chance to discuss the measure on understaffing, no two cops per car (which stemmed in part from the tragic killing of rookie cop Norvelle Brown) and underpay…….....Speaking of cops, the small town of St. George is getting its share of 15 minutes of fame when a young St. Louis man, Brett Darrow, who videotaped a police officer Sgt. James Kuehnlein’s angry taunts during a traffic stop, and later posting the footage on the Internet where thousands of viewers have watched it, said he wants the officer fired. It has been reported that St. George is a traffic stop and this I’m sure will get people talking about police conduct (having Darrow hits make sit even more interesting) . I wonder what would have happened if Darrow was African American? ………………..Looks like Rams player Orlando Pace will be out for the season after tearing up his rotary cup in his right shoulder in last Sunday;s game. Pace is having his share of injuries within the last few seasons, just last season, he was recouperating from calf and hamstring and tricep injuries……………….Now that Illinois has become the 22nd state to ban indoor smoking from public places and workplaces, and goes into effect Jan1, 2008, talk on radio programs is what will the new casino Queen do with gamblers who smoke? That will be a big problem if gamblers got a good hand and they get a tobacco fit……………………..…Well at least those smokers and all of Illinois will get their refund checks from Ameren within the month of September. The $1 billion in payouts were negotiated behind closed doors after public outcry forced lawmakers, utility officials and others to address concerns over high power bills………………..STL comedian Lavelle Crawford is in the Top Three finalists of the show Last Comic Standing last Wedsneday. The show will air this Wednesday at 8 p.m. on NBC. Lets hope Crawford can make it all the way to the Top Two. The show's two-hour live season finale will air on Wednesday, September 19 at 9PM ET/PT. The winner will receive a grand prize package that includes a talent contract deal with NBC, a Bravo half-hour comedy special and $250,000...................................... According to New York magazine, an unlucky Baby Phat employee misspelled Kimora Lee Simmon's name as "Kimmora" under the logo for her KLS couture line party onlast Friday night. Not to be messy - but someone had to do it - a New York magazine writer pointed out the error to Kimora when she arrived on the red carpet. At first, Kimora expressed surprise, "Where?!" she said, turning around. Then she tried to play it off, saying, "I'll be Kimmy-mora for tonight. It's fine, it's no big deal. It’s just an extra 'm' — it stands for 'million.'" But, deep inside, Kimora was surely steaming with rage. A staffer close to the diva says the error will probably cost someone his job…...................STL ‘s adopted son Ike Turner is going to have his relaity show soon. Its going to be with the ex-wife he accused of trying to poison him. I can just imagine what the show will be like (Can you imagine COPS meets Being Bobby brown?)……………… Could someone tell me if my pics are in the new issue of Alive Magazine during the magazine’s fashion week a couple of weeks ago? For all of you Woodie Award/Black rep fans, this year's annual award fundrasier was shleved this year and wil be back again next year.(The PR statement was the committeee used all of its funds for last year's the 30th Annual Black Rep celebration for the reason why it was shelved)........…................ A Centreville teenager, Lance Smith, 15, was charged Tuesday with two counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm and one count of unlawful use of a weapon for allegedly firing a gun into Alternative High School and Crisis Center in Alorton school last Friday. The shooting took place while students were on school grounds, but no students were in the classroom at the time of the shooting………………My father’s security company, Professional Security has landed a contract to guard the Katherine Dunham’s Museum on 10th Street and Pennsylvania (aka Katherine Dunham Place). There will be new construction taking place starting Oct. 1………………Did anyone go to the St. Louis Art fair in Clayton last weekend?..... Has anyone peeped out the new hot spot Lush on Olive (I hear they got a killer oxygen bar)?................................SIUE has enrolled the largest fall freshman class in its history, according to Scott Belobrajdic, SIUE's assistant vice chancellor for Enrollment Management . Belobrajdic released the fall numbers Friday, noting that 1,829 first-time freshmen had enrolled for fall, up from 1,764 last year, representing the fourth consecutive year of growth in new students enrolled at SIUE………Whats up with some thundercats getting arrested at the Dub Magazine Auto Show and having the cops to make arrests at America’s Center? Speaking of the Auto Show, at the After party, I hear STL based rapper Huey, who was one of the performers at the Auto show along with Bone Thugs and Lil Scrappy, turned it out at Spruills after the Dub Auto Show. Anyone go? I’m curious if he talked about his beef with Nelly and the whole New St. Lou movement….............Speaking of parties, my girl Mocha Latte’s Sunday Night Shindig turned it out once again as her event was one of the after parties for the Dub Show (Spruills was the official one), but if I heard correctly, the Shindig had the most “capacitied” crowd. In the house were Krayzie Bone of Bone Thugs and STL’s Lil Scrappy ……………... Actor and activist Hill Harper will be the keynote speaker at this years’ Salute to Excellence in Education Scholarship and Awards Banquet put on by the St. Louis American. It will be at the America;s center. So if you got $85 bones you can check out the speech…………………St. Louis was repped in Jet Magazine in its August 27 issue as the 2008 Jet Model Search came to the STL and Tony Scott and the Breakfast Crew was pictured with STL model hopefuls Marshawn Watson and Kendra Christian............................. And speaking of the Breakfast Crew, much love to Tammie Holland and the Breakfast Crew this week who talked about my blog OUTTOWN as far as my pics of her as the Best Dressed female at Nelly’s Black and White Gala at the Chase. . You can check it out by going to Majic 104.9’s website http://www.kmjm.com/pages/tammiesinsider.html and check out what Ms. Holland had to say about my blog (oh and my bad about spelling your name Tammi. MIA FOUND—Terrie. Last week, I asked what happend to Harold Guy and Terrie of Vision group and Terri((e) responded to me via email. She writes:
Hey Luv,
I am so glad someone is checkin' for me. (LOL) I hope this email fines you well.
1st. I am not nor have I ever been a part of The Vision Group. TGPR (THE TAYLOR GROUP) and The Vision Group partnered to create a couple of events.

2rd. ( And most important) I have had my nose to the grind stone working on a new publication, (I believe you meet members of my editorial team at Nelly's Gala) EDGE Magazine. EDGE will be launching this October with one of the hottest launch parties. You know how I do!

Wordz to the Whyz on MTV Awards. Why did rapper Lil Mama look like a ghetto Strawberry Shortcake with a pacifier?....Why did MTV cut from the performances in the suites before and after commercials?....Why did the crowd of celebs look like they didn’t know ho wto react when they saw Britney Spears’ lax performance on the show? Why did Dr. Dre look like He-man?....Why was Nicole S. of the Pussy cat Girls tryin to conjure up Vanity of Vanity 6 with her performance?.....Why does MTV vee-jay Jon Norris go overboard with the blonde tinted hair?....Why did the camera get a close up of Ashanti mouthing every word of Rhianna’s performance of Umbrella?....Why did Nelly present Alicia keys with a cup of beer in his hand?......Why did Kanye West’s suit look like the old koot form the Monoploy game?....And why was on every performance almost in the suites?.....Why did they have Miss Teen USA contestant South Carolina on there parodying her speech on there? ….Why did comedienne Sarah Silverman go overboard with her jokes about Britney?....Why did Justin Timberlake feel on his own ass during his performance with Timbaland?....And speaking of Timbaland, why does it seem Timbaland has crossed over too much in the pop and rock world?....Why wasn’t there many awards given out this year? Why did actor Shia Labeuf leak out the new title to the movie Indian Jones and wasn’t supposed to?.... Why did 50 Cent dis Beyonce by not kissing her when she leaned over to get a kiss from him when she won her award?...Why was Alicia keys almost bursting out of her leather jumpsuit?....Why was Jamie Foxx clowning out too much on stage with Jennifer Garner?.....Why was Timbaland shouting out to Diddy that he was ready to go his after party after his performance was over? And the question of the evening….Why were Pam Anderson’s exes Kid Rock and Tommy Lee fighting during commercial?

FIDDY-KANYE-BITZ. As far as the whole Fiddy and Kanye record battle on Sept 11 televised on Tuesday on 106 and park, I must say that Kanye won hands down in the challenge if the show was any indication. It looked like Fiddy didn’t know how to react after Kanye’s mentor Jay Z came out to perform a snippet of “Encore” after one of Kanye’s performances (All he could do was make the Rock-fella sign and then did a playful “get out o f here’ hand gesture). Even though the rivalry is all in fun, it was quite breath stopping to see if Fiddy or Kanye were gonna do anything out of character. I just feel for the country star Kenny Chesney's camp whose new album was released along with the two rappers!

Sip in Style at The Third Annual St. Louis Wine Festival
Presented by Van Kampen Investments

Going strong over the past two years, The St. Louis Wine Festival is back to tantalize your taste buds once again. Last year, over 8,000 people attended the festival held at Forest Park’s beautiful Grand Basin at the foot of Art Hill. This year, the creators of this festival, inPLAY EVENTS, expects to take the festival to a higher level. The weekend festival will feature over 100 Missouri, domestic and international wines from more than 20 wine exhibitors, along with local area restaurants presenting selections from their menus. Once again, St. Louis’ finest local musical talent will be performing including: Kim Massie, Girls Night Out and The Ralph Butler Band. Judging from the level of last year’s attendance, it looks like this may be a great start to another golden St. Louis tradition.

For the third year in a row, Van Kampen Investments returns as the festival’s title sponsor and is committed to supporting the St. Louis Wine Festival through 2009. This high end festival accomplishes its goal of taking the fear out of wine for the novice wine consumer and introducing new wine varieties to the experienced wine buyer while charging a nominal entrance fee.

Top St. Louis restaurants will make their best dishes available for purchase. The festival’s Seminar Stage will feature a full working kitchen for “celebrity” chefs to demonstrate their culinary magic. The stage will also host wine seminars, presented by local and international experts. All of the wines featured at the festival will be available for purchase onsite through the festival’s retail partner, The Wine and Cheese Place (fulfillment of orders will be made by shipping or pickup at one of their five retail outlets). Something new and exciting this year is the addition of a car sponsor: Autohaus of Clayton is stepping up to the pedal, showcasing several newly released 2007 BMW’s and Mini Cooper’s at the festival entrance.

The festival will be Saturday, September 29th (Noon-8pm) and Sunday, September 30th (Noon-6pm). Tickets are $25 at the door for adults ($20 in advance), $15 for Designated Driver ($10 in advance). Patrons under 21 are free when accompanied by an adult. Adult tickets include a souvenir wine glass, 10 tasting tickets (a booklet for 10 additional tickets is $5), wine taster’s program guide and access to all demonstrations, seminars and musical entertainment. Tickets can be purchased at the festival entrance, by calling 888-210-0074 or online at
www.stlouiswinefestival.com (last day to order online is September 16, 2007).
