OUT 284--STL-TIDBITZ AND MORE!

STL-TIDBITZ
There were several big time celebs that came though to the STL area last week. Most notably Illinois Senator and 2008 presidential hopeful Barak Obama who spoke at a fundraiser last Wednesday at Union station. Dubbed Countdown to Change, Obama spoke to hundreds of mostly-young supporters under a tent in the southern parking lot of Union Station that was both a rally and fundraiser. He was introduced by U.S. Reps. William "Lacy" Clay and Russ Carnahan, both Democrats of St. Louis. Obama said at the rally that he was running because "people are sick and tired of George W. Bush" running roughshod on the U.S. Constitution, engaging the nation in a terrible war and for a foreign policy that has diminished the nation’s standing in the world.” Obama is also is the only Dem candidate so far to set up a headquarters here in the St. Louis area. This month alone, Obama has headlined seven such events in cities across the country. With admission only $25, or $15 for students. All I can say is Run Obama Run!..................

Other big time celebs that came through were comedian DL Hughley who performed last Thursday at the Pageant. Before going on stage, he kicked with the Tony Scott Show who was broadcasting live from the Pageant and doin some serious flirting with TSS personality Tammie Holland (I don’t blame him for that. LOL) Oh and if you get a chance, peep Hughley out in a rare dramatic role in the flick, “Shackles” that is currently airing on Black Starz channel. R&B/jazz legend Anita Baker performed at the Fox (SEE OUT 281 FOR A REVIEW OF HER SHOW) and last Sunday, and R&B singer Trey Songz who, along with local rapper Jus Black, performed and picked sistas for a Video Shoot for Jus Black feat Trey Songz’s video for their cut, “Like Me” at Club Society. I hear the attendance wasn’t too good….…..

What is going on in St. George, Mo? Seems like a lot especially with it its mayor. St. George has become the town of iniquity with its mayor Harold Goodman (what a last name!). well he resigned a day after he was arrested for misdemeanor drug possession, by St. Louis County authorities. Not only this, but it was discovered a few days later that he had possession on his computah some kiddie porn! Not good. Goodman's arrest on suspicion of possessing child pornography is part of an ongoing, multistate investigation, police said last Friday. Officials also said a preliminary review of the materials seized from Goodman's home indicates that St. George children are not among the alleged victims. (Hmmm isn’t that interesting that none of the authorities at St. George knew nothing of this?.................

As of this writing the trial for accused murder victim Kevin Johnson is back in session. The 22-year-old man accused of killing Kirkwood police officer William McEntee in 2005 is facing his second trial. Johnson's first trial in April ended in a mistrial after jurors could not decide whether Johnson was guilty of first- or second-degree murder. Johnson said in that trial that he shot McEntee. St. Louis County prosecutors says they will use Johnson's confession in the new trial. He is facing either death or 20 years to life in prison if the jury can prove that Johnson premeditated to kill the cop or under duress………………The Rams are taking a week long break to get things back in gear after their 27-20 lost to the Cleveland Browns. The loss extended their record to 0-8 and the worst start in franchise history. I am pulling for the Rams to win at least the next half of its games. Let’s hope…………Well, looks like Jan, 2, 2008 will be the date when most of Interstate 64 in the St. Louis County area will be shut down completely for construction changes. Construction work will take place between Spoede road and Kingshighway and all lanes of 64/40 will close from Ballas Road and I-170 before morning rush hour ion Jan 2 and this shut down will take place ALL YEAR! For updates go to http://www.thenewi64.org/...............................

St. Lunatics member Slo Down (PICTURED RIGHT) was at costume sop Johnny Brocks last Sunday in Fairview Heights passing out gift certificates for his upcoming Halloween party at Club Society, I hear he’s giving away plasma TVs for the best costumes! Speaking of Lunatics, Lunatic member Kyjuan and STL comedian Darius Bradford of The Bea’s U C Me Radio Show, stopped by Posh in the Central West End last Monday to wish Ms. Tia B. a Happy B-day. There, Kyjuan gave me some scoop on his next project. He told me that he is working on a piece called, “Changes.” You heard it first. (I will give yawl the details and pics of this next week). ……………I forgot to add last week that Jenna Bailey, the new star of College Hill Interns was cuzzins to Chingy (whose real name is Howard Bailey)………..Belated congrats to East. St. Louis born singer Akon who copped a nod for Best Pop/Rock Male Artist at this year's Americana Music Awrads which will air Sunday, Nov. 18. he is up agaianst Justin Timberlake and Timbaland (You can choose the winner directly online which is a first, so lets all vote for a hometown artist)......Local guitarman Wilman will be at Vintage Vinyl Nov. 7 in the U City Loop signing his upcoming CD...................... Metro need more money. St. Louis County may ask voters on Feb. 5 to triple a fourth-cent transit sales tax to help support the Metro public transportation agency's bus system and MetroLink trains and pay for expanding rail service. The County may not have a choice especially now that parts of I64/40 is about to shut down in the County. Hmmm, is there a tie in by chance?..... You all probably have seen my pic in the Evening Whirl recently (no not in the crime section .LOL) at Free Time and company’s event Forbidden at J Bucks 2 weeks ago (I was the brotha with the blue hat and crazy vets on) well, it could be that I am a ghostwriter if sorts for them. Startling last week, some of my STL-TIDBITZ will be featured in the entertainment section of the paper(Props to editor J Bailey for the hookup, now gimme me some credic! LOL)….

On the Freeman Bosley Junior Show last Sunday there will be changes (and they let me know that the changes were not severe by shouting me out on the radio of this indication. LOL). The show will have personality Nicci Roach’s Nick at Nine segment retitled Nic til Nine. The show airs every Sunday from 8 a.m. o 10 p.m. CST on 100.3 The Beat….

OUTTOWN received an email from Xcel Models in regards the missing of a child in the St. Louis area. It read: Hello all! RIP-BITZ. And lastly, OUTTOWN sends its prayers to the family of Riverview High student Ramika Thomas who was accidentally shot and killed as well as Pamela Schmidt, 47, who died from injuries she suffered when the driver of a black Mercedes SUV, Thomas Williams, sped away from officers and crashed into a Ford Explorer she was passenger in the Explorer last week. Also, Sadie Perkins, 71, who also was a passenger in the Explorer, was also killed in the collision. Williams BTW has been charged with murder, unlawful use of a weapon and resisting arrest by fleeing. Police said the incident began when they received calls near midnight on Thursday about shots fired in the 3600 and 3800 blocks of McRee and Blaine avenues. Callers described a black Mercedes SUV, and officers approached a vehicle matching the description at Spring and McRee avenues. Authorities said Williams flashed a weapon and sped off. At Ohio Avenue, Williams struck the Explorer, forcing it over a median and onto its roof. OUTTOWN also would like to give sympathy to the citizen who was skilled in the car crash that took place last Friday on I-64/40 toward Green Mount Road in O’Fallon, Ill.
