OUT 345--STL TIDBITZ AND MORE!

ITS HUMP DAY—TIME FOR OUTTOWN !

Herre’s whats goin on in the STL

Thank ARTEGO for the findings of a 4-year-old boy who was found safe Tuesday shortly after police issued a SARAA alert. The boy allegedly had been taken about 4:30 p.m. by the estranged husband of a woman who was caring for the boy at Neecy's Nest Day Care Center at 1200 Ashford Drive. The man asked to borrow a car and she let him because he agreed to pick up medication for her, police said. He asked to take the boy with him even though he did not know the boy, and the woman agreed, police said. The man, 36, was arrested near the day care center about 9 p.m.

All this week has been nothing but crazy snow. Snow. Snow! The winter storm that brought a mix of ice, sleet and snow. (Damn that Groundhog!) Earlier this week, was the second ice storm iin less than two weeks.

What was going on with the mistaken identity of two men in East St Louis? From reports, Kenny Stainback was missing for roughly a week when his mother and stepfather called the East St. Louis police seeking an update on the investigation. They were horrified to hear over the phone that their son had been killed — and already buried by another family, under another name. East St. Louis police confirmed last Friday that Stainback was the victim of a homicide but that his body had been mistakenly identified as another man. The body was discovered Feb. 15 on a road near Wilford Place. Police said they had taken fingerprints from the body but that Frederick McWherter Sr. had told officers that the body was that of his son, Frederick McWherter Jr. Because of the apparent identification by McWherter Sr., they did not bother to check the fingerprints.Only after Frederick McWherter Jr. was reported to be alive did East St. Louis police run the fingerprints through the Illinois State Police database and get back the name Kenny Stainback...................Speaking of the East Side, Illinois State Rep Jay Hoffman says the state is ready to roll on the much delayed Mississippi Bridge project. He expects design work and land acquisition to start almost immediately on the four-lane span. The bridge agreement marks the end of negotiations between Missouri and Illinois officials over how to pay for a new crossing, which would alleviate congestion on the Poplar Street Bridge. The new bridge will be toll-free, financed by both states and the federal government. The crossing and its connectors are expected to cost $640 million.

STL native b-ball player and business entrepreneur Larry Hughes is now playin closer to home—sort of speak. He was traded to the Chicago Bulls this week from the Cleveland Cavaliers. Huughes played as a Bull last Sunday, marking his first action since being traded from the Cavaliers last Thursday. He finished with 10 points, six rebounds and three assists in 22 minutes. I guess now that that he’s four hours away from the STL, he can travel closely to his biz ventures with the Skybox, a swanky bar located in Laclede’s landing, that he owns with STL rap star and childhood buddies Nelly and former STL Rams Marshall faulk, and the proposed indoor athletic complex near the Page Avenue extension that Nelly is also in biz partners on as well.

Speaking of STL native athletes, Cory Spinks will fight in front of a hometown crowd again when he defends his IBF junior middleweight title on March 27 at Scottrade Center. The fight is Spinks' mandatory defense against the IBF's top challenger, Verno Phillips, a 38-year-old journeyman from Belize who now fights out of Denver. Phillips has a record of 41-10-1, with 21 knockouts. Spinks is 36-4-0, with 11 knockouts. This will be Spinks' third fight in St. Louis in his past five, but his first since July 8, 2006, when he won his IBF title by decision from Roman Karmazin. His most recent fights have been in Kissimmee, Fla., and Memphis, Tenn. Spinks will do his training for the fight in St. Louis. There had been plans for this fight to be on the Roy Jones-Felix Trinidad undercard in January, but a deal was never finalized. STL Devon Alexander, also will be on the card. He recently won his first belt, the WBC Continental Americas junior welterweight title........................................ OUTTOWN hears that boxing promoter will be at Spinks' trainer/manager Kevin Cunningham's sports bar Knockouts in North County this Thursday........................................... Kirkwood Mayor Michael Swoboda progress has went from critical to serious to satisfactory, The mayor has been in the hospital since February 7th, when he was shot twice in the head at a City Council meeting. He still faces months of rehabilitation and recovery.

Where is Craig Ferguson?

Kimora: Life in the Fab Lane chronicles her daily life and routine, along with her relationship with her two daughters Ming Lee and Aoki Lee Simmons. It now re-airs on E! Entertainment Television. Season two first aired in January 2008........................................East St. Louis native and Olympic champion Jackie Joyner Kersee was heard on the Tom Joyner Morning Radio Show Tuesday to talk about her taking a geneology ancestry test and the controversy over athletes and steroids. On the test, that she took through Dr. Henry Louis Gates, she said that her ancestry was from Sierre Leone and that "she didn’t know what she was getting into and that it was very deep and overwhelming” when it came to the results. On the steroid controversy she said that she was glad that it out in the open to discuss such matters and that she can talk to children who may feel they need to take steroids to enhance their careers.

EVENT-VIEWZ: The Art Holliday fundraiser was held in support of Holliday's documentary on STL rock and roll pioneer Johnny Johnson. At the event, Holliday spoke to the crowd about his reasons for producing doing the documentary. Through Stress Free's Jones, an auction took place (which Jones intro'd by saying, "Hello, my name is Barack Obama.") as the crowd bidded for items that were auctioned off (eg. a $40 shot of Crown Royal XR for charity). A few female admirers of Williams were also there who saw his interview on Show Me St. Louis. The event raised over $1,000 for the production of Holliday's documentary.

After the Holliday event, OUTTOWN checked out Home Nightclub at Ameristar Casino in St. Charles to check out celeb party girl Paris Hilton who was going to be there to host a party. earlier that day, Hilton visited the Macy's in the South County Mall near Lindbergh to sign autographs for close to a 1,000 folk who stood in line for hours to get a peep of the socialite. Thosein line had to purchase her product CAN CAN perfume (which went for 181 dollaz)

The VIPs were waiting in line to check out the event which reportedly had close to 2,000 capacity.

People waited patiently to catch a glimpse of Hilton.

The general public reportedly paid $100 buicks and more to get inside the club to party with Hilton!

Some VIPErs in front of the red carpet area.

YOURS TRULY, Ma'at Atkins and Stress Free Fridays MarkAnthony Jones were two of the thousands there for the event.

Cherresse Ink's Miss Terri gave the media good practice of our cameras before the lady of the hour arrived. Cheresse Ink was the PR fiorm that took pcare of the media and press.

Security was tight when the Queen of Parties finally arrived. She was scheduled to appear around 11ish. She met with the public around quarter to midnite.

Hilton was very gracious to the media snapping shots of her.

She is already ready for the bulbs!

She was a fashion plate from head to toe.

She also answered questions from the media as her new beau Good Charlotte's Benji Madden was behind her.

After teh press frenzy, Hilton was quoted as saying, "It's gettin really hot . I'm done now." (Hot as in temperature, that is)

Overall the event was OK. After the initial excitement of Hilton partying in the DJ Booth with JE Epperson and her speaking to the crowd, the night became just a party.
POST NOTE. On Monday, YOURS TRULY, Ma'at Atkins had a chance to talk with KTRS' Joe Hipperson on his show HIPP NIGHTS (which comes on weeknites from 9 p.m. to midnite) on 550 AM on the dial. He and his wife were standing next to me at the media line as we waited for Hilton .

OUT 341--OUTTOWN INTRODUCES THE SOCIALITE

THE SOCIALITE

Last Friday, the STL was the city for the concert LADIES NIGHT OUT starring R&B schoolers Tony! Toni!Tone!, Johnny Gill, Boyz Ii Men and Bobby (I mean. Bobbbbay) Brown held last Friday at the Scott Trade Center. To give yawl the skinny on the report, OUTTOWN sent THE SOCIALITE to the show to give her take on this event. Oh so fly – The Socialite Report The Valentine's Day Concert go-ers were in for a treat as they got a chance to see their favorite artist croon in concert last Friday at the Scottrade Center. The romantic jam fest included headliner by Bobby Brown, Johnny Gill, Boyz II Men, and Tony! Toni! Tone'!.

As an appetizer, Fans got a chance to celebrate their anniversaries while TTT serenaded them with the oh-so-classic "It's our Anniversary." Our fav New Jack Swing group from Oakland was minus crooner Raphael Saadiq, but they still sent us swinging the entire play-time making us believe that Southern California was still experiencing a drought ("It never rains in Southern California".)

Anyway, 3 lucky ladies from the audience gave us a "pleasant?" surprise by serving as temporary back up dancers for our favorite band. No need to go into their 5 minutes of fame, but

Ladies, let's keep those day jobs, ok? All in all, TTT jammed as the decadent opening act. I'm still wondering where they got the shiny couture' for outfits.... LOL Now, speaking of the next course, I hope the Ladies who attended the concert did their laundry, b/c the N.E. Heartthrob Johnny Gill definitely had them aroused. "My, My, My," was all you could say when you saw him enter the stage in that Crisp, Tailored White Tux! Damn, who knew Chocolate could look and sound so good!

But JG mesmerized us w/ his smooth sensual grooves, taking us back w/ "Fair-weather Friend," and "The Floor. "Our minds certainly had a "Quiet Time to Play" and his sexy stage presence definitely got the "Mood Right." Now I was still wondering if that passionate kiss between JG and a "fan" was staged, or for real. But Johnny, I hope you got her address to send her tonsils back! (Sista girl, how was it????) The romantic Ballads continued with a sincere tribute to Luther Vandross, which left no dry eyes in the building.

Nearing the Main Course, our fav quad Boyz II Men (minus 1, We miss you Mike!) first appeared "So-Shiny" bling blinging, as if they were advertising for Lee's Pawn & Jewelry. (Ok, more like Tiffany's...) But nuthin' but Love for B2M, b/c "Motown-Philly" definitely brought us again as they allowed us to reminisce on that "One Sweet Day," and the classic ballad "I'll Make Love to you," while Wanya, Shawn and Nathan still proved that they can genuinely connect with their crowd. Even though some weren't ready for the Motown Review, "Tears of a Clown, and "I'll be there," they kept the crowd grooving. But at the end of their set, Boyz II Men is no where at the "End of the Road."

Now for our main course, Our STEAK dinner, we had the pleasure of being graced with the KING of R&B, none other than former Original New Edition member, Bobby Brown. At first, concert-goers were confused, b/c they thought they came to audition for "Flavor of Love," Part 4, but no, guys, it was the King, in the Flesh, wearing that black Tuxedo, Red and Black Glasses and kicks, looking like our boy definitely and expressing "His Perogative." BB definitely connected with the crowd, w/ "Tender Roni," and showed us that even though he's been off the scene for a while, he still had the vocals we grew to appreciate back in the day. The Desert, w/ a cherry on top included Bobby and Johnny on stage together to cutt'n up on "Tender Roni."

If you or your Roni wants to comment on the concert, email us at maatspear@yahoo.com.
