OUT 375--STL-TIDBITZ AND MORE!

HELLO ALL

ITS WEDNESDAY

YOU KNOW WHAT TIME IT IS

OUT TOWN TIME

HERE"S WHATS UP THIS WEEK:

Besides the Pope coming to D.C. and hundreds of Catholics (including those in the STL) making a trek to see him, the big story in the STL is, Do you know where the Boony hat Bandit at? Well, The St. Louis Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation increased its reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a bank robber known as the "Boonie Hat Bandit." John V. Gillies, Special Agent in Charge, said Tuesday that investigators believe the "Boonie Hat Bandit" to be responsible for seven bank robberies in St. Louis and St. Charles County since November 2007.Authorities said a $5,000 reward has been issued for information on the suspect. Now is it me, or I got a feelin folk are gonna start purchasing Boony Hats cuz of this? Or T shirts saying, I found the Bandit, Gimme my 5 grand. LOL

Police has a St. Louis man is in custody after allegedly shooting letter carrier Terry Marcrum(PICTURED) , a 44-year-old letter carrier, who was shot in the shoulder and back of the head while delivering mail just before 2 p.m. Monday. . at an apartment in the 3400 block of Giles Avenue, about one block east of where Marcrum was attacked at Potomac Street and Spring Avenue. Police said a gun had been recovered. They also do not suspect that the incident was gang related.
\Mail carrier is shot on his route; friends, police are asking why He was in uniform but delivering mail in his own car at the time of the shooting in the South Grand neighborhood. Mail carrier Terry Marcrum speculated Tuesday that he was shot in cold blood for some kind of gang initiation, but city police who announced an arrest hours later said it was not. Marcus speculates that he knew the grandmother of the alleged gumen beause of her residence is part of his postal route.
hospital upgraded his condition Tuesday to fair, from critical. Now the thing that OUTTOWN cant understand was, why was Marcum deluivering mail in his own car? Strange indeed .......................
A spokesperson for the Maplewood Richmond Heights School District said a fight broke out between two female middle school students April 3. The Maplewood Police Department said the school resource officer was forced to use a stun gun on one of the students because she was combative. While the mother of the teen makes no excuses for the fight, she questions the tactics used by the school resource officer. The police department said he did not break any rules, but a school resource officer who used a stun gun on a 13-year-old student has come under fire. Her daughter was taken to the hospital and was released after the hospital determined she was not injured. The district has asked the officer to not come back. Both of the students have been suspended. The officer has been reassigned at the Maplewood Police Department.

Scientists used a vacant lot near a grade school in East St. Louis to test a new method of addressing lead-contaminated soil — by mixing it with waste sludge that could render the lead chemically harmless. But no one told local residents that some experts believe the sludge itself could be dangerous. An investigation by The Associated Press raises new questions this week about the 2001 East St. Louis project, and a similar one in Baltimore. In both cases, scientists using federal money spread sludge made from wastewater solids and other materials on lots in poor neighborhoods to test whether it might protect children from lead poisoning in the soil.

BUS(TED) STOP

Local preacher and activist Rev. Cleo Willis laid in front of a Metrolink bus Friday to protest high gas prices and bus fares and a shortage of
construction jobs for African-Americans in the city. Willis was accompanied by a number of sign-carrying protestors, who stood nearby while he lay down beneath the bus.Police arrived on the scene and arrested Willis shortly after the incident began.
Prior to the protest, willis said, "I am going to be walking toward an oncoming bus tomorrow afternoon, and it's going to stop me, or I am going to stop it. For yawl who keep up with Willis' outlandish protests, in 2003 he and a group of activists were arrested after stepping on the tracks in front of a crowded MetroLink train after a Cardinals game. In 1999, Willis was part of a large protest in which participants stood on Interstate 70 and stopped traffic. Each of those protests focused on the alleged lack of construction and contracting jobs awarded to black residents in the St. Louis area..

The President Casino in downtown St. Louis is reopen after Mississippi River floodwaters receded.
President Casino officials say the river rose to the point that operations had to be temporarily suspended on Saturday, but said clean-up was minor. The casino reopened Tuesday.
The casino is housed inside a boat on the river, just north of the Gateway Arch. It is owned by Las Vegas-based Pinnacle Entertainment Inc. The temporary shut down was the first flooding closure for the President Casino in about six years.

IRStensions. Hope ya'll filed your taxes or at least got that extension. If you lived in the County (the city, so sorry) yawl got an extention until May 19 if you sent in your materials and put on the front of the envelope
" Missouri Flood Victim."

Ted Foster and Sons White House funeral home on Halls Ferry Rd. was foreclosed but failed to notify family members and friends arriving for scheduled services. Bodies were removed and the business had been foreclosed early on Friday.
No one was present at the funeral home to redirect mourners to the new location. Many people had rushed to be on time only to find out the services were at another chapel.

Congrats go out to two STL mover and shakers will be featured in the May issue of Ebony Magazine. They Business mogul David L. Steward (upper right) and U.S. Congressman William Lacy Clay.

TWO ST. LOUIS LADIES NAMED LEWIS IN THE NEWZ

Beginning April 22, Kinloch native actress Jenifer Lewis will take over the role of Motormouth Maybelle in the Broadway production of Hairspray, reports Broadway.com. Lewis replaces Darlene Love, who has starred in the long-running musical at the Neil Simon Theatre since July 2005.
Currently on the big screen in "Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns," Lewis last appeared on a New York stage in the Public Theater's 2006 Central Park production of Mother Courage and Her Children. Her Broadway credits include Comin' Uptown, Eubie! and Rock 'n' Roll: The First 5,000 Years.

The second Lewis is St. Lewis (bka B. Skye) of Falava of Love 3. 2 St. Louis named Lewis Lewis. MediaTakeout is buzzin after it reported on the now infamous incidnet that happenned (and that all the STL black newzies reported on) at the Loft duiring the Million Dollar Amn contest last month
Here is what the article stated:

April 12, 2008. Here's a report - sent in by one of MediaTakeOut.com's faithful readers:

I attended "Saint Louis" from flavor of love, Million Dollar Man party that occured at a popular night club in St. Louis. First off the b*tch gets on the microphone saying "Yah hoe's thought I couldn't do it but look at me now" vs saying, thank you for attending my event. She also had a special guest who was "Gravee" and she was looking a mess as well! But anyway the contest was suppose to be for her to find her "Million Dollar Man", in St. Louis. As soon as the contest got started the first contestant to hit the stage was weird looking guy. A gentleman on the stage asked the guy to step down from the stage which started the madness! As the other contestants were walking across the stage, the weird guy that was kicked off the stage was still upset and going off. So that's when "Saint Louis", got smacked at her own party by the guy and that's when the fight occurred. After the fight was over, the contest was shut down and everybody was told to leave. She is soooooooo ghetto and how do you get smacked at your own party? Further more you got kicked off the second show and ugly ass Flav didn't even remember your name.......................So Sad!

Now whats interesting is, the next Million Dollar Man compeition will be at it again at Society this Friday (see EVENT-BITZ BELOW FOR MORE INFO) and the hype on it accoridng to sponsors MPAC: "The last party was so packed that the Fire Marshall had tried to shut it down. This party is sure to be off the chain." Well, if the last one wa sany indiction, they wont need the Fire Marshall to shut it down, it will be shut down by Fire B. Skye. Fo sho.

2007 American Idol finalist Melinda Doolittle will be at the Shop and Shave on Meremac in Baldwin tioday, Wednesday, at 3 p.m. to promote Edie’s American idol flavor. Prior to her visit, the St. Louisan (she spent her first 10 years in the city) was on KMOX’s Total Information radio show talking about her visit, her experience on American Idol and some of the projects she’s done after Idol including visiting
Zambia with Laura Bush and the Malaria No More organization, releasing an EP and currently in the studio working on her debut album which will be released near June or sooner.

STL native jazz singer Lynne Fiddmont sang background Monday night for another St. Louis native, Miley Cyrus aka Hannah Montana on the 2008 CMT Music Awards. She sang with her longtime friend, Fred White, who is also Cyrus’ vocal coach. Fiddmont has performed with Cyrus before, including recently on “The Tonight Show.” She also did background for “American Idol” during the Hollywood rounds. And for all the St. Louis music heads, Fiddmont wa spart of the husband and wife duo Lynnesey and had a huge local radio R&B hit, "You are Love."..................................It was reported that STL hip hop superstar Nelly's new song "Party People,"(which OUTTOWN predicts will be a No. 1 jam in June) was originally offered to Fergie, who now guests on the track and appears opposite the rapper in the video. To peep out the hot new video go to
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4dcTshug2g In other Nelly news, he has recorded a new track, called "Self Esteem," with Public Enemy rap pioneer Chuck D. The collaboration will appear on Nelly's new album "Brass Knuckles" that is coming out in June. In unrelated Nelly news, Media takeout is reporting that R&B singer Ashanti’s Top 20 R&B hit, “The Way that I Love You,” is about her relationship with Nelly and is ready to openly discuss her relationship with him. Hmm, can we sense a taste of opportunity to cash in for record sales? It has been a minute since Ashanti had a big hit. Hmmm..............................

Lush Life. It was reported that Former Miss USA Tara Conner was seen on the arm of her main man, DJ AM, whose real name is Adam Michael Goldstein, at Lush Lounge on Sunday night and Goldstein mentioned during his set that he will open a club at the Bellagio in Las Vegas in 2010 with partners Shaquille O'Neal, Justin Timberlake and Pete Wentz.

Little Rock Nine’s Thelma Mothershed Wair, 67, spoke to a group of St. Clair County teachers at Belleville West High School Friday morning. Fifty years ago, Thelma Mothershed Wair and eight other students integrated Little Rock High School, forever becoming known as 'The Little Rock Nine.' For nearly 30 years, Thelma Mothershed Wair taught in the East St. Louis public schools. She spoke to St. Clair County teachers about the experience that made her a part of national history. Wair, who suffers from multiple sclerosis, has since retired from teaching and returned to Little Rock, adding that her hometown has changed. Teachers gathered at Belleville West High School for a series of workshops and to celebrate Wairs' achievements as an educator and a trailblazer.
Wair was honored at a luncheon after the workshops, hosted by educators in East St. Louis School District 189........................................Why did Laughs on the Landing on Laclede’s landing change names to House of Comedy? Same management different name.

Several STL stars were seen last week I at various spots. Newcomer rapper Ludy was spotted with his girlfriend at Flamingo Bowl last Saturday. They were hugged up when they left there. Boxer Cory Spinks was enjoying the cruise on Olive and 170 in his BMW. Don’t know where he was goin’, but we’re sure he was NOT going to Knockouts Bar and Grill. A couple of socialites were working out at Bally Total Fitness in Clayton--Valarie Johnson and FREE TIME’s Adrian Saddler. She, who was incognegro with a cap over her head, was givin him a workout on legs.

A strange occurrence happened last weekend when three hip-hop vans were spotted , two in the E Side area

Rapper Cane’s van that was promoting his single, “Get Dirty Wit it,” It was parked at the Phillips 66 in Shiloh Illinois near midnite on Monday morning.

Ludy’s van going up Delmar toward the Loop area. His van was promoting his mixtape, “The Takeover

Rapper P Dub’s van traveling down I-64 toward Fairview Heights and kept going east. The van was promoting his new CD, “The Turning Point.” And the single, “Good Thang.” I guess he’s back doin secular music after doing a couple of CDs on the gospel tip.

The question is where all these vans were going?

Speaking of STL rappers, one in particular is doing his thing on the gospel tip. MYNISTA a.k.a. Docta Wuzdead (who used to be known only as "Synista") he has a testimony to rap on with life on the streets and his turning his life around. What was up with a homeless man walking naked in teh Delmar loop last weekend?

STL got hoaxed. This week, OUTTOWN got word of two hoaxes that got started on two STL stars. One was that STL rapper Dutch Jackson got killed in a car wreck. Well come to find out, according to a source, he and his manager faked his death to kill off his rap name so he can start over. Whats up with that?Well, if you wanna kill off your career, faking your death is mos def not the way to do it. Wouldnt that enhance it? We're just sayin. The other came via email on So Diverse's email of its co-founder Jameelah E. gettin stranded in Lagos, Nigeria and her requesting money (Hmmm, sounds smelly already) The following is what was emailed to OUTTOWN and hundreds of others:

I Hope this message meets you in best of health, Pardon my mistakes because I am in a hurry writing this, I had travelled to Nigeria for official purposes, Unfortunately for me all my money was stolen at the hotel where I lodged, I am so confused right now, I do not know what to do or where to go,I did not bring my phone here, I have access to only emails, please can you send me $4000 today so I can return home, as soon as I get home I would refund it immediately.

You can send it to me through western union as I do not have an account here. This are my informations you need to send it. Name: Jameelah El-Amin, Address: 30 cole street, lagos,nigeria,23401, Text question: What is my date of birth, Text answer: 1976, please as soon as its sent scan and send me the receipt of the transfer or just write out the money transfer number and the senders informations. Please do not tell this to anyone. Thank you.

PLEASE DO NOT TELL THIS TO ANYONE! THAT'S A RED FLAG RIGHT THERE. IF YOU ARE STRANDED IN A FOREIGN LAND WITH NO MONEY AND YOU NEED HELP, WOULDNT YOU WANT EVERYBODY THAT YOU KNOW TO KNOW? CRAZY. AND JAMEELAH AND HER CREW WERE In CHICAGO FOR THEIR BUS TRIP LAST WEEKEND SO HOW COULD SHE HAVE WENT TO NIGERIA? WOWOW. ANYWAY, COME TO FIND OUT THE SO DIVERSE EMAIL GOT HACKED BY ONE OF THOSE NIGERIAN SCAMMERS AFTER JAMEELAH LOST HER CELL PHONE IN CHICAGO SO THE HACKERS HAD A FIELD DAY TRYING TO SCAM UP SOME SHIT.

And lastly, OUTTOWn gives its sympathies to St. Louis area militray man Col. Stephen Scott who was killed in Iraq. Scott was remembered Monday at a funeral in St. Charles County. He was laid to rest at Jefferson Barracks in south St. Louis County. Scott died April 6th. The 54-year-old avid jogger was exercising on a treadmill inside the protected Green Zone in Baghdad when the facility came under mortar fire.
