OUT 405--STL TIDBITZ AND MORE!

Whats up STL and all those beyond

This is Ma’atology

Its Hump day so its time for OUTTOWN and we wanna be sure we get this edition out cuz we don’t want our fans to go exinct like the Polar Bear always is. LOL

OK herre;s whassup this week:

Whassup with the rumor that the St. Louis Rams organization may get sold? Well for now, the rumor is not true. According to
St. Louis Rams new managing owner, Dale "Chip" Rosenbloom, he stressed this Tuesday that he has every intention of keeping the Rams in St. Louis despite a report from Yahoo! Sports that the team is up for sale. Yahoo! reported that Eddie DeBartolo, former owner of the San Francisco 49ers, has had preliminary discussions with an intermediary about buying the Rams. Yahoo! reports that at least two other groups have had talks about purchasing the Rams franchise, according to an NFL owner familiar with the situation. Rosenbloom said the death of his mother, longtime owner Georgia Frontiere, four months ago caused immediate speculation that the team would be sold. Not only was the selling point speculated, but if they were sold, would they stay in St. Louis? According to reports, the St. Louis rams, which is worth more than $900 million, is opted to be in ST. Louis until 2015, 20 years after signing from Los Angeles to St. Louis (1995). The Rams lease agreement with the St. Louis Convention & Visitors Commission (CVC) requires the Edward Jones Dome rank among the top eight stadiums in the 32-team NFL on the Dome's 20th birthday in 2015. If first-tier status is not met, the Rams lease would switch to year-to-year terms a decade ahead of schedule and the team would have the option to leave St. Louis.

St. Louis go tin the national newz this week as the My Space suicide incident involving a young girl, Meagen Meier, l went to criminal court in Los Angeles where My Space is created. The mother of a teen who hanged herself after being spurned by a fake boy on MySpace is "thrilled" that a federal grand jury indicted her neighbor for her role in the creation of the profile."I'm thrilled," Tina Meier told FOX News on Friday. "She should have faced criminal charges from the very beginning, and unfortunately the state of Missouri did not have any laws that could convict Lori Drew (until this week) ."Drew, of Dardenne Prairie near St. Louis, was charged with one count of conspiracy and three counts of accessing protected computers without authorization to obtain information to inflict emotional distress on Tina's 13-year-old daughter, Megan. Drew faces five years in prison on each count. Responding to the suicide of a Missouri teenager who was teased over the Internet, state lawmakers Friday gave final approval to a bill making cyber-harassment illegal. The measure updates state laws to keep pace with technology by removing the requirement that the communication be written or over the telephone. Supporters say the bill will cover harassment from computers, text messages and other electronic devices. The measure now goes to Republican Gov. Matt Blunt for his signature. This I’m sure will be the cornerstone of Internet crime for sure but the controversy is whether the hoax caused her death or was she already in a mental state of depression before the incident occurred. The debate we are sure will continue on.

Wassup with the Ghost Student at gateway? St. Louis school officials are investigating the case of a reported phantom student who received grades and attendance marks even though he no longer attended the schoolThe unidentified teen was counted as a student at Gateway High School, but had reportedly been living in Oklahoma for part of this year, even though he reportedly received passing grades, including two Bs, and was marked present for nearly 60 days. District administrators did not provide much more information, but sources have told news sources that the student had returned to Gateway in March.Investigators spent the day at the high school, trying to figure out whether a computer glitch, a hacker or simply operator error caused what they're calling a "very embarrassing event."The student allegedly left Gateway in December 2007, moved to Oklahoma and then returned to Gateway earlier this year. The grades showed up on what's called a progress report, meaning final grades were still to come. We know one thing for certain that is going to be ghost---someone job that was responsible for this! ....................................................................A teenaged girl was hit by a Metrolink train his week. On Monday she was hit at the Richmond Heights/Galleria stop before 9:00 a.m. Witnesses say the girl, who appeared to be in her late teens, was carrying a bookbag and listening to music. Police say she never saw it coming. The girl stepped in front of the train, the operator pulled the emergency brake, but was unable to avoid hitting her. She ended up under the platform of the train that was heading south, toward the Brentwood stop. Passengers say all they could see was her bookbag on the platform. The passengers were kept on the train until first responders could check the girl’s condition. Some of them prayed, others were even crying. But the victim was alive and they were able to pull her out. Witnesses say she was conscious, but injured when she was transported to the hospital.Witnesses tell us she didn't say anything, but her eyes were open and she was moving. Police don’t think her injuries are life threatening. She also suffered visible cuts. Police says there’s a safety message to be learned – be alert when around MetroLink platforms. As of press time, police have not released her age or identity.

Speaking of teens, a 13 year old kid is in custody after causing a near melee at the annual Annie Malone Parade Sunday when he fired a gun into the crowd. Police say several people were trampled and a pregnant woman was injured when she fell. Luckily no one was struck by the gunfire They now believe this started with a fight between two groups of teens. Though one juvenile is in custody, investigators are still looking for more witnesses in this case. Anyone with information is asked to call St. Louis police at 444-2593 or 444-2545.Despite the incident, the parade kept going and organizers say this parade had the biggest turnout yet with almost 100,000 attending. We were on the platform stage on 9th and Market and the melee happened close to 15th and Market. All we saw was a big blob of people moving forward as they cops ran to the scene. One sista we talked to said the cops at first looked at the teens fight not doing anything, but when shots rang out they started to move. Hmmmm.
The following are the winners at the Parade--Automobile Division 1. Kustom Corvettes 2. HOT 104.1 FM 3. Time 4 Fun
Floats Division 1. Fair St. Louis 2. Michael's Catering Services 3. Confluence Academy
Drill Team Division 1. Arrowpoint Elementary 2. Over the Hill Drill Team - Omaha, Nebraska 3. Medinah Temple - Most Worshipful Prince Hall, The Grand Lodge of Missouri
Drum & bugle corps - junior & high school division 1. Riverview Gardens High School Marching Rams 2. University City High School Marching Band 3. Roosevelt High School Band......................................................

While the Annie Malone Parade was going on, Busch Stadium had a game as the Cards were playing the Tampa Bay rays. Before the game, The Cardinals honored the legendary Stan Musial. With family members and city officials on hand, Musial basked in a sun that shined as illustrious as his Hall of Fame career. St. Louis city officials dubbed Sunday as "Stan Musial Day." "I'd like to thank the people of St. Louis," Musial said as he addressed the crowd. "They're the greatest fans around." Cardinals broadcaster Mike Shannon introduced Musial to the crowd before a tribute video was played to the near-capacity crowd. Cardinals chairman Bill DeWitt briefly addressed the crowd as well..........................................

And who was the guy that had a bullhorn Sunday before The Cardinals/Annie Malone Parade who was inside of the parking garage next to Kiener plaza saying, ‘This is the Lord, Tampa Bay are going to win over the Cardinals.?”

The Missouri house passed the scrap law. Missouri lawmaker approved a measure making it easier for law enforcement to track scrap metal dealers that have been plundering copper and aluminum. The catch however is, if the scrap metal is more than 50 lbs!.......................

Police are searching for three suspects in the Monday night shooting of a Medstar Ambulance worker on 25th street exit near I-64 in east St, Louis who was transporting one of two brothers wounded in a shooting. The worker, who is in his early 20s, was airlifted to St. Louis University Hospital. The two brothers, whose names also were being withheld, were being treated at Kenneth Hall Regional Hospital, where East St Louis police had secured the perimeter. The ambulance worker was listed to be in serious condition. He was hit in the left arm, and the bullet traveled through and into his chest. No conditions were available on the brothers, who know the shooters. Herb Simmons, manager of Medstar Ambulance, said the driver, has been with the company for a couple months. Illinois State Police were assisting in the investigation. The ambulance was not followed by police because police didn't realize the suspects were hiding, Hammonds said. As of press time, Medstar is considering a review of the paramedic procedures. What’s tripped out about this incident was, the guy that got shot, Simmons, just graduated from college and was just hired with Medstar and filled in for an employee during that shift cuz the employee wanted to go to a graduation. Whoa!

Former Kirkwood Mayor Mike Swaboda went back at home from the St. John’s Mercy Medical center this week after fracturing his skull in a fall at his home. Family friend Tom Noonan said Swoboda, 69, was doing well and would continue home-based physical therapy at his home in Kirkwood. Noonan said Swoboda was expected to make a full recovery...........................................
Its back to the drawing board on the mother who abandoned her newborn in a dumpster in the CWE. St. Louis police thought they had a good clue recently in looking for the person who abandoned a newborn baby boy in a dumpster in the central west end. But investigators have ruled out a woman they thought could possibly be the mother of the child. Police released surveillance video of a woman at the Debaliviere Metrolink station. She was seen there 30 minutes before the newborn baby boy was discovered in a dumpster on waterman on the night of May 5th. Police said a call came in about the identity of the woman and detectives immediately contacted her. She’s been ruled out as a suspect. Police believe the abandoned infant may be from the St. Louis area and police are continuing an active investigation and urges anyone with information on the baby's identity or the mother's identity to call St. Louis police or crime stoppers.

The Clemens Chapel is under ruins—literally. Parts of the Clemens chapel and adjacent mansion-- located at 1849 Cass Avenue—collapsed last Friday due to saturation from rain. The roof on the mansion and chapel became so saturated with rain that part of the chapel caved in. Building inspectors found the wrong mortar was being used for the tuckpointing and stopped the project since the owners failed to get a work permit. The work alerted historic preservationists, who then contacted the city.Anthony Coffin, a board member with Revitalize St. Louis, said he and many others do not blame Mother Nature, but they simply hope someone finally preserves what is left of the important piece of local history. The original owner, James Clemens, was a wealthy businessman and a relative of famed author, Mark Twain. (whose real name was Sam Clemens who was born in Florida, Mo. Part of Monroe County, Missouri) James Clemens called St. Louis home in the mid-1800's. His property changed hanged many times over the years.

The Riverfront Times had an indeopth article last week about the upcoming investigation of Patty Wente, general manager of KWMU (90.7) as well as the station. The University of Missouri system office in Columbia is conducting a review of public radio station KWMU's operations and finances following a financial audit that raised some red flags about a lack of spending controls on company credit cards.News of the university investigation reached employees of the National Public Radio broadcaster on April 14 in an e-mail from UMSL Chancellor Thomas George. Sources inside KWMU contend that an investigation into the station and its general manager, Patty Wente, is long overdue. During her nineteen-year tenure, employees claim the 51-year-old Wente has orchestrated misleading fundraising drives, assigned staff to personal work, and ruled with a "reign of terror" in which employees felt threatened to bring concerns to the university. Reign of terror? Man seem like she made Hitler look like Bambi!

Wassup with the Brentwood exit ? Hope MODOT hurry and build the overpass. We cant get to Galleria on time! LOL.

The new electronic variable speed limit signs on the Missouri side of Interstate 270 will start changing during the morning rush starting tomorrow Thursday. Officials said the signs change speed in five-miles-per-hour increments and can only be changed every five minutes. The signs will flash for five seconds, before the speed limit changes. The slowest speed will be 40 miles-per-hour and the fastest speed will be 60 miles-per-hour...........................................

Looks like State Rep Connie Johnson has to remove herself from the ballot. A judged ruled Johnson does not meet the residency requirements to run for Senate in the 5th District.................................

What was up with the bomb threat at the St. Louis Zoo last weekend? We wonder if the animals were alerted instinctively?

Looks like the Belleville man who was badly burned in a home explosion earlier this month is now charged with trying to kill his wife and five year old daughter. So much happened at the home in the 1300 Block of Orchard street the night of May 2: the house where the Smith family lived blew apart; a wife and daughter essentially lost their husband and father, respectively. 44-year old Gary Smith allegedly unhooked the natural gas line from the oven to kill his wife, Darline and their daughter with the fumes. The freshly plowed dirt where the Smith's house used to gives no indication of the madness that unfolded here three Friday's ago. Smith is was charged with two counts of attempted murderin the St. Louis County Jail pending extradition to Belleville at which point his bail will be $750,000. Close to $4000 dollars in donations from a fundraiser and a trust fund are helping; so, too, would some final word from investigators on the explosion. His wife and daughter are staying with family and friends. There's another fundraiser for them Thursday night at the Whistle Stop pub in Swansea. All tips collected will go to Darline Smith and her daughter.

There was a peaceful protest when Phyliss Schlafly got her honorary degree at Wash U last Saturday. All the protestors—who did not belief in her anti-feminist ideology--did was turn their backs as she received her degree. She was one of six honorary members, one of the six was also music impresario and longtime humanitarian Quincy Jones(PICTURED) who was awarded a doctorate of humane letters from Washington University. He was nominated by African American studies Professor Gerald Early, who wrote the liner notes to Jones’ 2001 retrospective boxed set, "Q: The Musical Biography of Quincy Jones." Jones, who is from Chi-town, patted his heart, raised his fist to the sky and blew kisses to the audience in thanks for their wild applause and a standing ovation. He told The Associated Press after yesterday’s ceremony: "I’ve just turned 75, and I feel like I’m just beginning." He said in an interview he’s working to produce three albums and score nine films. But he said his "No. 1 project" is a children’s relief effort in Cambodia through his foundation. Next month, Jones will receive a top honor at the BET Awards in Los Angeles ceremony on June 24 for his humanitarian work.

Another superstar who wore a cap and gown was country singer Gretchen Wilson. Gretchen earned her General Education Development diploma in Tennessee’s Wilson County last week in a cap-and-gown ceremony where Charlie Daniels delivered the commencement speech. "I’m proud of her because she went through the turmoil of getting the diploma at this busy time of her life," Charlie told The Tennessean. "It’s a sign of character to do something because you want to, not because you have to."
It seems rather apropos that Charlie would give the speech the year that Gretchen graduated. He was mentioned in the lyrics of her first hit, "Redneck Woman."

Did the Animal Control folk ever get that deer that was spotted near the Science Center Sunday?

St. Louis Police officer, Marvin Haley, is in critical condition after he was hit by a car at Lambert International Airport. The accident happened around 8: 30 a.m. last Thursday on Lambert Airport Road near the East Terminal. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Marvin Haley, an 8 year veteran of the police force, was conducting a security detail when a woman driving a maroon car struck the officer’s car and then hit the officer. The woman then veered off the road and hit a tree. Both were transported to area hospitals. The female driver was in surgery. Officer Haley was taken to SSM DePaul Health Center where he is in critical condition. The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating.

Those included are Chingy, Murphy Lee, Jibbs, Nite Owl, Joka, Vic Damone, Hakeem tha Dream, Jus Bleezy, Cat Fight, and Dolla. They will be performing June 21 at the ampitheater. Well looks like Nelly’s the long awaited 5th studio album “Brass knuckles’ have been pushed back yet again, from June to August. This has been one of many for the Cd that was suppose dto have been relased last fall after the lackluster song Wadsyaname’ was released (which is not on the new CD by the way). And by way of the charts are going, “Party people” stalled on charts only peaking at #40 on the Hot 100 and #62 on the Hip Hop/R&B Charts. The next single released may be “Stepped On My Js" (featuring
Ciara and Jermaine Dupri). In unrelated Nelly news, according to MediaTakeOut, Nelly and Ashanti back together . They just got word that Nelly and Ashanti are now prepared to publicly come out as boyfriend and girlfriend. They spoke EXCLUSIVELY with a person close to Ashanti who told us all about the couple's change of heart. The insider told MediaTakeOut.com, "Ashanti and [Nelly] have been dealing with each other for years, but it was always understood that it wasn't exclusive ... [Nelly] really didn't want it to be exclusive." And according to our insider, it was the lack of exclusivity that had the couple denying the relationship to the public. The insider explained to MediaTakeOut.com, "That wasn't Ashanti's man, so she would have looked silly telling the media that they're together. It was a little complicated, so instead of putting all their business out there, they just refused to talk about it." But now, according to the key insider in Ashanti's camp, things have changed. The tipster told MediaTakeOut.com, "They're both a lot more mature and they're both ready to settle down. Plus they've known and loved each other since forever ... they're even talking marriage and children." Whoa Nelly!
We were listening to 100.3 The Beat last Sunday and heard Hypeman Dwight Stone’s gospel music mix segment prior to the Freeman Bosley Junior Show. Hmmm, is this Crunk For Christ all over again?

BLIND BITZ.Which performer was propositioned with cash to do an “adult act” with a mover and shaker after their show? (Hint, the performer is not a singer—but still uses a mike and performed with a group, has four letters in their name—the last initial being an ‘M’ and the mover and shaker is a “threepeat” offender on BLIND BITZ and was “one” of the groupies at this show)
