TIME TO GET TOWNED!!!
Last month we highlighted important and notable artists for Black History Month. This month is Women;s History Month and we will spotlight various women who made significant steps in their careers in the ILLI and MO area. This week, we highlight Dr. Lillian A. Parks.

OUR OUTTOWN FAN SBfly said about Neyo: He looked like a young Michael "before" changes...He had great music and looked good clothes wise, outstanding male backup dancers okay female dancers, I felt like I was at the blues concert because Neyo kept talking and asking The Fox to turn up the house lights, and made conversation with the crowd ranging from the women with the white pants on to men being gentlemen. Some warm up group, came out in the middle of the show with the word NEYO spelled out on towels. And lastly, the band for Neyo was truly awesome. Their set was hyped and got the crowd dancing.
Musiq (PICTURE BY SBFLY) showed a hot performance as well (especially with him being the vet of the three acts in regards to the music biz) . He had an all-female band.
Sullivan, who was last at the Fox after opening for Maxwell last fall, gave the crowd her throaty alto croon as she performed her hits including the Grammy nominated song, “Bust Your Windows “ Sbfly said about Sullivan: She sounded great, looked great representing the Divas...at times it appeared that her voice was a little hoarse...but crowd was hyped...
New girl group Electrik Red opened up the show and as SBfly mentioned R&B singer Ginuwine, was seen down front and waving to fans.
Speaking of Ginuwine, we heard that he had a listening party in St. Louis for his new CD, A Man's Thought (Does anyone know where he had it? Our e-vite must was caught up in spam. LOL)s. And had fans to pick his first single which is, :My Last Chance.” To peep it go to http://www.missxpose.com/2009/01/ginuwine-is-back-with-a-mans-thoughts/
We guess he had to have a party here in the STL for his CD (especially with most of the CD was recorded here in St. Louis at Notifi Studios.) cuz he had a party for the CDs release in Hollywood at Mr. Chow’s after the Grammys.
And speaking of award shows, The STL had its 2nd Annual Traffic Music Awards Sunday at the Roberts Orphuem Theatre celebrating the hip-hop music and performers here in the Lou. The big winner was 100.3the Beat personality Shorty Da Kid (TOP) who won three awards. He won Club Song of the year and Song of the Year for his radio hit, “Wah Wah Wow (Ratchet)” and shared an award with his producer Loudie of GCB for Producer of the Year, The second big winner was
St. Lunatic Murphy Lee (BOTTOM) who won two awards. Lee won for Radio Song of the Year (“My Shoes”) and shared the Label of the Year award with his St. Lunatic brother Kyjuan for UC ME. Other winners included Jessie Taylor for Comedian of the Year; Fox 2;s April Simpson for TV Personality of the Year, Nikko Smith for Artist of the Year, DJ 618 for Legend of The year and Mocha Latte for Promoter fo the Year. The highlights were when the family of the slain Lee “Roseman” Nixon accepted the Humanitarian award in his behalf which caused his daughter to become emotional during her speech and a standing ovation from the crowd. The other was when Silly Asz accepted the award for Radio Personality of The Year for he and his radio partner DJ Kaos. Asz brought up a tee that had a magic marker lettered the words “FIRED FOR NUFFIN” referencing to the duo getting fired last fall at their post at WHHL Hot 104.1. The evening's performers included a mix of new and classic hip-hop acts, including Jibbs, Huey, Ebony Eyez, Kenny Knox, Black Pearl Mafia, Young Ro as well as big winner Shorty Da Kid. It was hosted by creator Tony J, the Traffic man at 104. 1. (SEE OUT 566 FOR PICS AND MORE COVERAGE OF THIS EVENT)
This week the STL based film Up in the Air” starring George Clooney started shooting. According to reports, movie trucks were parked downtown near Busch Stadium and the Millennium hotel. The film will make use of more than 50 locations in the St. Louis area, including Lambert St. Louis-International Airport. The trailers have logos on them that read "Starwaggons," and "Movie Movers Transportation Equipment." Covers on the parking meters around the GenAmerica Building, at 8th and Market, explain that location is also part of a movie set. Mansion House Apartments on North 4th Street is also dramatically altered for production of Clooney's movie.
The film, which stars Clooney, tells the story of a man on a mission to rack up a million frequent flier miles. The production will conclude by the end of April. In related news, it has been reports of folk spotting Clooney at various venues here the STL. According to reports, Clooney apparently has spent some of his off time in the Central West End. He's already been spotted in a club known as Mandarin and right next door, inside Subzero where he was having dinner with some people."
In other related news, Juno co-star Jason Bateman has joined the cast of the dramedy Bateman will play Clooney’s boss. (So be on the look out for Bateman here, too. )
”Pay to Play: How Rod Blagojevich Turned Political Corruption Into a National Sideshow” by PBS correspondent Elizabeth Brackett is scheduled to go on sale in May.According to PW: “Brackett, who works for ‘The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer,’ has followed Blagojevich’s career for some time now; she initially profiled him in 2002. The book, which shows how Blagojevich’s upbringing ultimately led to his comically tragic fall from grace, is getting a sizable push from the house, which has announced a first printing of 25,000 copies.”
Wonder who will pay to play him in the movie? LOL
According to reports The all St Louis showdown between Deandre Latimore (TOP)and Corey Spinks (BOTTOM)for the vacant IBF Junior Middleweight title will be held in the Gateway City. Steve Smith, the long time promoter of Latimore, says Rumble Time/DiBella Entertainment and Don King Productions have come to terms on an agreement. The final details of a date, venue and a television deal for the fight are being wrapped up. The IBF has ordered the fight between Spinks and Latimore because of former Champion Verno Phillips decision last November to vacate the title to move to a different weight class. Currently the IBF has Spinks ranked as the top contender at #3. Latimore is the #5 contender in the Junior Middleweight division.
The title, St Louis Civil War Showdown, comes from Corey Spinks growing up in north St Louis while Latimore grew up in the south side of town. Smith says Deandre is preparing for this fight like no other fight he has had in his life so that he prove once and for all who is the best fighter in St. Louis. Latimore’s trainer, Kenny Adams, who once trained Spinks, says he looks forward to the challenge of defeating Spinks who was a great champion. A formal announcement for the late March or early April fight is expected shortly once the final details are worked out.

Last Friday, two big time celebs came through the Lou to meet fans and promote.
First was rocker Sammy Hagar’ was in town last Friday at his Sammy’s Beach Bar & Grill restaurant at Harrah’s St. Louis. There he addressed his fans, poured drinks, and held a press conference earlier that day. Fans entered a contest for a chance to meet the former lead singer of the 80s group Van Halen. Those who entered the contest got a CD, must had to have a Total Rewards card from the casino to enter.
The other was craft goddess Martha Stewart and her two French bulldogs popped into Macy's West County Center last store Friday afternoon to promote her new cookbook. Stewart signed 600 copies of "Martha Stewart's Cooking School" She was in town to visit a company, but she wouldn't share any details. Hmm.
Rapper Chingy, who was scheduled to appear at and was a no show at the Traffic Music Awards Sunday, filmed a profanely based rant about the ongoing riff that’s has brewed between East Coast and the STL rap scene. To see for yourself , go to

Last Tuesday, he had his first show there Funny Phat Tuesdays that will be go on every Tuesday. This Tuesday was a special tribute show to the late Rodney Winfield hosted by BET"S/Johnsons Family Reunion,’s JJ.

Speaking of rappers, St. Louis rapper Nite Owl is fired up. According to several reports, Koch wnet on a media frenzy to tell his side of the story of what happened when he won last year’s Koch Madness hip-hop contest held at the Loft that landed him a one-shot deal with Koch Records, but believes his win wasn’t all it was supposed to be. His feelings, including that the more commercial but second-place rapper Joka was treated better than he, are detailed in a lengthy letter to the media from his camp. Here is an excerpt from his letter
“After several comments and questions about the status of his relationship with Koch Records, continuing to be referred to as a Koch Records Recording artist on the street and in print media, and as a last straw, after being told that he is not permitted (BANNED) to compete in the HOT 104.1 DTP Madness Rap Competition, Nite Owl decided it was time to let this story be told.
Nite Owl heard the radio promotion for Koch Madness and called me so we could discuss it. At the time, we were preparing to independently release his album “Spoiled Rotten”. The prize for Koch Madness was a single record deal with Koch and a thousand dollars. Some of you may know that Nite Owl worked in radio for many years and is aware of all of the scams that float around, and so when we found out the money was real, we knew he should enter the contest. Money is money, and when it accompanies some radio promo time during the month you are releasing an album, who wouldn’t enter the contest?
Nite told me he was going to enter it, and he openly told everyone, including media, that he was going to win it. From Nite Owl’s perspective the competition was batting practice, for others it was the World Series. I told him, “obviously you are going to win, because nobody performs more in this city than you do”. And since the contest was based on performing original hip hop music LIVE in front of judges…well, it was just a done deal in our eyes. Not cocky, just confident. So, he entered. When it came time for the finals it quickly became apparent that Nite Owl winning this contest was not what the program director of the radio station was necessarily in favor of--as evidenced by the fact that while he announced Nite Owl the winner, he also stated out loud to the whole room that Nite Owl was not who he had his money on. (He had his money on the runner up)

And in more STL heat and buzz, there has been some behind the scenes commentary about the artists who came through to the Disturbing the Peace Auditions for a record deal with Ludacris; label that went down last Saturday at Club Casino (It followed auditions held two Saturdays ago at the Loft) .
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Speaking of Ludy, who was nominated for a TMA Award, he is having a b--day party at Club F15teen Thursday, March 12. Its FREE Champagne and entry til 11p.m.
And speaking of Young Dip, he will star in the upcoming urban stageplay The Clean Up Woman starring Telma Hopkins and jackee harry at the Fox March 14 and 15 (SEE FOX FILES BELOW). We wonder if this is why was a no show as a presenter at the Traffic Music Awards Sunday cuz he was in rehearsal mode?
Two STL based R&b trio are doin thangs herre and away from the STL area.
First, STL R&B trio Mo Tre will have a listening party for their debut CD, “St. Louis R&B Boys” March 15 at the Merchandise Mart Lofts on Washington Ave in downtown STL. Sorry, it’s a private party, but OUTTOWN will give ya the pics and scoop next week!

We hear that SYGU’s Eddie Holman had a bachelor party in the ATL last weekend and brought his friends to celebrate. When we ran into his brother Daron at the Traffic Music Awards he said that he swore under oath to not tell what happened. Hmmm. Well, we can just imagine.LOL
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Happy b-day also goes out to Power Stilletto’s Sherraine Gilliam who will celebrate the big 3-0 with a b-day party at Exo next week (SEE EVENT BITZ BELOW). She said that she will bring some of her friends from her hometown of NYC to come party wither in the Lou.

RIP BITZ. Paul Harvey, the news commentator and talk-radio pioneer whose staccato style made him one of the nation's most familiar voices, died Saturday, ABC Radio Networks said. He was 90.
Mr. Harvey was born in Tulsa, Okla. He was working in St. Louis for KXOK when he asked Lynne Cooper, a graduate of Washington University who covered women's issues for the station, to dinner. At that dinner, on their first date, he proposed. Over the years, she served as his writer and editor.
Harvey had been forced off the air for several months in 2001 because of a virus that weakened a vocal cord. But he returned to work in Chicago and was still active as he passed his 90th birthday. His death comes less than a year after that of his wife and longtime producer -- Lynne, a native of St. Louis.
Known for his resonant voice and trademark delivery of "The Rest of the Story," Harvey had been heard nationally since 1951, when he began his "News and Comment" for ABC Radio Networks.
Harvey died surrounded by family at a hospital in Phoenix, according to ABC Radio Networks spokesman Louis Adams, where Harvey worked for more than 50 years. No cause of death was immediately available.
IN THE MIA FILE. Where is Fashion handbag designer Miss Raquel?
BLIND BITZ. Which St. Louis native celebrity was spotted having a bite to eat with a friend at an after hours diner last Saturday in the STL? (Hint. It’s a male but its not Nelly, Chingy orCedric , they are part of an ensemble national TV show and rose to fame during the “Clinton administration.:” The diner is located on Grand.)
STL-ICIOUS (Who is hot this week in the STL). Nite Owl and Mocha Latte.
Nite Owl. This rapper is making waves with his manifesto to the print and new media about his game busting experience when he won Koch Records singles deal last year at the Loft with no holds barred fervor (SEE TIDBITZ ABOVE). Last Saturday he performed at Blue Berry Room’s Duck room much to his fans delight and to keep the fire goin;, this Wednesday, he will be featured at Good For People’s Close to Famous’ Gray Area at F15teen.
Mocha Latte. Latte aka The Queen of Promotions is coming off from a jammed packed b-day party last Friday at her weekly event Best Damned Fridays Period at Lush with special guest singer Ron Brownzs and a Traffic Music Award win Sunday at Roberts Orpheum for Promoter of The Year. This week, Latte will host 'Best Damned' with special guest singer R&B ‘s Teairra Mari (SEE MOCHAS CORNER BELOW). Next Saturday she will host the return of Soulace, a spoken word event at Nubia (SEE EVENT BITZ BELOW) that she will host every second Saturdays.
Why do we call Chinese food, the rice house (if youre in Illi) or the China man (isf your e in St. Louis)? Why do people lock the bathroom door to do their business when there is nobody in the house but them? And Why are people are slow to pay their bills on time, but break their necks rushing to turn in DVDs at their local home video store?

KMJM personality Tammi Holland sent OUTTOWN an uplifting email from dress collector Tracie Ousley. It reads:There have been a lot of parents that have lost their jobs and have daughters that may not be able to participate in a day that you can never get back, their senior prom. I was sitting at home one evening and was thinking," what can I do to make a difference." As I was going through my closet, I came across some formal dresses that I had from either weddings or formal events, it struck me. "I can start a collection and give back to the community." So I called a girlfriend of mine and she thought that this was a wonderful idea. So here we are.
