OUT 594--STl-TIDBITZ and MORE!

HELLO OUTTOWNERS!

ITS WEDNESDAY

TIME TO GET TOWNED!

The big arts and ent newz thing that’s happening is the St. Louis Cardinals and their playing ball on the diamond. They are winning most of the games they have played thus far (5-2) and are currently in Arizona to play the Arizona Diamondbacks (2-4) With a four-game winning streak in place, the St. Louis Cardinals begin their first road trip of the young season tonight with the first of three straight meetings with the struggling Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Cardinals won five of seven tests in a season-opening. And speaking of the Cards, its first baseman can currently be seen in the latest “This is Sportscenter” on-air promo spot, THE MACHINE. To peep it out go to http://videos.stltoday.com/p/video?id=3729361

Bad boy recording artists and making the Band reality show stars DAY26 was in town last Thursday for a private concert at the Venue in Wellston to promote their sophomore CD, “Forever in a day” that was released April 14 (SEE OUT 590 for PICS and COVERAGE). Before their show, they stopped by the 100.3 The Beat studios (the station sponsored the event) and talked with Hypeman Dwight Stone during his radio show. The group talked about their now infamous verbal and physical fights that were part of recent episodes of Making the Band. The group also talked about women and how to “tweet them” . BTW, member Willie Taylor is from chi-town by way of Harvey, Ill. To peep the interview go to

Oh we also heard from a source that there was actually a verbal fight that went down during Day 26’s radio interview, but was edited out of the webview(which could explain why the edits are so frequent) and that the station has the unedited footage. Hmm.

Veteran STL journalist Sylvester Brown was fried form the ST. Louis Post Dispatch recently for alleged “ethics violations” and that he refused the newspaper guilds offer to negotiate his return to the newsroom. In a press confence Monday at the Gateway Classic Foundation offices.Brown said that management alleged that he took a plane trip to Washington DC on March 26 as a gift in return for a column he wrote on and turned in the day before about a renewable energy project in East St. Louis. He feels he was falsely accused of the charges. He also said there were other motives to fire him. One being when brown alleged that mayor Francis G. Slay had threatened editors at the Post after they ran a column by Brown claiming the Slay administration were thugs. A post dispatch was on record a saying his firing had nothing to do with Slay, but with an ethics violation.
Brown said he remains locked out of the newsroom and denied access to his email at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
A supporter of Brown distributed slips of paper inviting the public to follow brown’s work at
www.sylvesterbrownjr.blogspot.com, where Brown’s speech from this afternoon’s news conference can be read in its entirety.
Brown was a columnist for the Post for six pears and was the publisher of the now defunct, take Five magazine.

On the CHI-TOWN bitz, Grammy award winning rapper
Kanye West has won a delay in his assault case. His lawyer Blair Berk was in court in Los Angeles Monday, requesting a continuance to his client's arraignment. West is charged with vandalism, battery and grand theft - after allegedly lashing out at photographers at LAX airport in Los Angeles last September year (Sept 11 to be exact). The rap star's manager, Don Crowley, is also charged with two counts of vandalism, two counts of battery and two counts of grand theft………..

.....and in other Chi-town newz, And, Oscar and Grammy Award winner and Former "Idol" contestant Jennifer Hudson will perform on American Idol tonight, Wednesday at 8 p.m. CST on the results show (the performance was taped last month). Teen sensation Miley Cyrus also will perform. Hudson is also on a mini concert tour across the country and is scheduled to perform along with Robin Thicke at the Fox Theatre in St. Louis April 23 (SEE FOX SPOTLIGHT BELOW)

Did you know that a St. Louis area person is working as exec producer for the George Clooney film, “Up in the Air” that is being filmed here in the Lou? Yep. His name is
Michael Beugg. He is from Chesterfield and he was one-time a White House aide and is working as executive producer on the new movie "Up in the Air." This is the 35th film of Beugg's production career. His résumé also includes the Oscar-nominated "Little Miss Sunshine" and the recent hit "He's Just Not That Into You." He currently lives in Los Angeles.

We hear comedian/actor Sinbad was in town Easter Sunday for a benefit concert. We saw him on the tube in the Lou but just didn’t get where he was? Anyone know? Maybe he was performing to try and pay some of them back state taxes he is accuse d of not paying. OOPs.

The St. Lunatics are on the verge of a comeback these days. Not only is newly freed member City Spud is back in the lineup, but the St. Louis crew just recently, released its newest video, “St. Lunatics,” the first single off their upcoming CD, “City Free” (the followup to their 2001 debit “Free City”) The video was directed and shot by Traffic Music Award winner Dana Christian. On an intersteing note, Christian gave the scoop on the video which wasn’t supposed to be the actual video. He said, “It (the video) wasn’t supposed to be the music video of Lunatics. It was just a taping, a camera set up doing the song for like one take. Me and Kyjuan felt it should be more but after everyone saw it, they was like this is it.” To peep out the take, go to
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2fIXxpiv1RU

And speaking of 100.3The Beat, stlhiphop.com is reportingthat dee-jay/rapper Shorty Da Kid is no longer with the station . Word on the streets has it that the Traffic Music Award winner was fired. The site was not for sure for the reason why and, the only reason they were speaking on this is “because of emails we received inquiring about his status and the reason for his dismissal.” The site tried reaching out to Shorty's camp to get his version of what happened and was going to keep folk posted on the matter. On the site, a commentor, named .
KILO MANSUN wrote on April 10,
its a conflict of interest.....hes tied in with lil mark alias tar boy over at trackboyz.....cant be a dj and a rapper too.....st louis isn't built for that.....ask kaos!!!!! it just don't work things will backfire on you.good luck on your career shortie....sirius satellite is free!!!!! “

Well, OUTTOWN got a source that said that Shorty was first suspended for 30 days and is now fired for alleged payola practices at the station. ANd for those who don’t know what that is, it’s when someone gets a kickback (money especially) under the table to play a record on air without permission from management. We will also keep you posted on this story.

Why did poet Renee at Soul U open mike at Nubia last Saturday say on one her poem lines “his nuts tastes like syrup?” Why are most reality shows these days feature former reality show stars?
