OUT 599--STL-TIDBITZ AND MORE!

HELLO OUTTOWNERS

ITS WEDNESDAY

TIME TO GET ‘TOWNED!

This just in!

We got word that NYC rapper Jadakiss will be performing a concert in St. Louis at Club Society on May 2. (SEE EVENT BITZ BELOW FOR MORE INFO)

AND NOW TO THE ARTS AND ENTERTAINMENT NEWZ BITZ THATS BEEN HAPPENING IN THE ILLI AND MO AREA:

Well, we are sure that you have heard about the shocking rumors that has transpired about STL rapper Chingy and the allegations that he had sexual relations with transsexual rapper Fox Giselle (BELOW) and her calling NYC indy radio show Street Disciplez talking about her relation with “Howard Bailey” (his real name). You can go on the various Internet sites to see the radio show as well as Chingy’s response denying the rumors, but we would like to give our opinion about the allegations.

Firstly, why now that Giselle waited to now to speak on these allegations and why this particular station? It looks a bit suspect (pun not intended) for the “shim” to speak out now about Chingy if s/he had several encounters with the rapper. Possible extortion plot (S/he even made a song about the allegations called, “Bottoms Baby” parodying Chingy’s song, “Balla Baby” ) ? And in radio, and in journalism in general, you suppose to have fair and balanced reporting of both side (The Fairness Doctrine). It’s apparent the radio show was looking for extra publicity .

Secondly, Giselle said that ”Howard” allegedly tried to flip her off and ignore he/r sparking the call to the station. This sounds like an attention getter. We see that the shim is a rapper. Maybe this was a ploy for publicity for an upcoming CD project. Plus, in these days, the proof is in the pudding. If s/he has proof, wouldn’t you think s/he would have put Chingy on blast with proof long time ago? In legal terms proof equals truth, not saying the truth.

Now onto Chingy. There have been rumors about the rapper ever since he became a national recording artist in 2001. ( He went on record a few years back not denying meeting and dancing with a transsexual in a club and explaining that he didn’t know she was actually a he (and who could forget the hilarious Tyra Banks talk show episode in Nov 2006 when she dressed undercover as a man in his posse and she gave Chingy that kiss!) . But this particular rumor with Giselle could be career damaging especially if the tranny has proof.

When he got on the Internet to record a video response to the allegations, he denied them (not surprising) and blew it off jokingly with full of expletives and then making the statement that Jiselle was a “hater, that he “wasn’t going to waste much time on it, ” and “the time he should start worrying is when folks aren’t talking about him at all.”

Well, we think this is the time for Chingy to worry because Jiselle does not come across as a hater, but someone who could destroy a career. What does s/he have to lose telling of the allegations?

True, any publicity is good publicity, and no one is without being talked about negatively, but this type of publicity could destroy Chingy’s hip-hop image and career with hip-hoppers. His character is challenged and should be presented in court as defamation.

So, Chingy, we feel that you should not ignore this and use the legal system to clear your name on these allegations (ala R. Kelly). Ignoring it would be a bad mistake especially if Giselle actually has proof of these allegations.

And speaking of radio, all those fans who rallied around Tom Joyner when his syndicated program was knocked off Chicago last month doubt felt a sense of accomplishment upon learning he had reached an agreement to return to local radio with Crawford Broadcasting's Soul 106.3, beginning today, Wednesday.Joyner cut a deal with Reach media, the affiliate with owns Joyner;s Dalls-based show. He agreed to buy time on the station (meaning he will broker time for anyone who wants to advertise on the station).

Clear Channel, which bumped Joyner (who was 4th in ratings) on March 23 to move Steve Harvey's syndicated program(a much lower rated show) to V103 from WGCI-FM 107.5, has a contractual tie to Joyner (Clear Channel still had to pay Joyner under his contract until the end of this year) that will have to be resolved. The company, which declined to comment, simply may wish to move on. The switch caused a backlash with Chicago fans.
On his blog on Balck America Web Joyner wrote:
“Chicago, and our friends and family from all over the country, you have spoken, you have emailed, you have Tweeted?and once again your activism has made a difference in a big way! We are going back on the air in Chicago, and if I could hug and thank each and every one of you individually, I would. Starting Wednesday, our new home will be SOUL 106.3FM!The best way for you and all of us to claim a victory is for you and everyone you know to make sure all of your radios are tuned in to SOUL 106.3FM weekday mornings from 5am-9am . When you do this, we all are helping lack radio thrive. Let?s show the world we?re not only here, but we are strong, we are empowered and we are able to make things happen! We will be visiting Chicago soon to let you know in person how much we appreciate everything you did to ensure we could still have a voice in the community. Until then keep blogging, texting us at OH OH OH (646464) or mingling with us online on the Tom Joyner Facebook Fan Page and on Twitter. The more ways that we can reach out to each other, the stronger we can become and the more assurance we?ll have that we can stand up to any force when we?re on the right side.Thank you to the thousands upon thousands of you who let the media know that you wanted us back. Special thanks to our friends at WCIU, The U for their support. (And don?t forget, you could still win a trip from The U to come see us in Dallas!) It touches my heart to know all of you care as much as you do. I feel the love and the sentiment everywhere I go. “
Joyner said on his radio show Wednesday that the same procedure could be done at any other markets for people to voice their concerns via the means of communication
.

Two national recording artists made one-stop concert appearances in the St. Louis area.

Sexy R&B singer Ginwuine performed at the Loft last Sunday (SEE OUT 598 ) where over 500 fans came to see the singer. Ginuwine, who recorded most of his latest CD, “A Mans Thoughts” in St. Louis, is one for the first recording artists signed to the St. Louis based record labels Notifi Music. Before performing, he visited sponsored radio shows of his concert Tony Scott Show on Majic 104.9 and Dwight Stone show on 100.3 the Beat. To see Stone’s interview go to:

Also, lovely singer/actress Solange performed at Webster University last Friday to about 300 fans outside the Garden Center (SEE OUT 595 ). The opening act was STL singer Teresa Jenee (who held her own on stage). Later on, Solange partied it up, along with rapper Maino (“Hi Hater” fame) at Monopoly Promotion’s Best Damned Fridays Period co-hosted and promoted by Mocha Latte's company, Monopoly Promotions. Check out OUT 595 to see what she requested before she entered the doors at Lush!

Congrats to Cedric the Entertainers’ longtime manager/movie producer Eric Rhone (left) who was recently appointed Missouri’s Tourism Commission by its governor, Jay Nixon. Rhone has long been the right-hand man to Cedric, who was born in Missouri and attended high school in St. Louis County. Rhone’s seat runs through 2012.

Deanne Lane is gone from KSDK-TV (Channel 5). A source close to the station said there were balloons and flowers at her desk on last Tuesday. The source said no one was sure why Lane was sent the gifts because the balloons had "Congratulations!" written on them. Lane’s picture and bio are no longer on the KSDK website. There was no further reports on whether who was going to replace Lane, who has been at KSDK for 25 years. She became the lead anchor when Karen Foss left the station to go to AmerenUE. Lane's contract was due to expire next month and rumors had circulated that she was being asked to take a big pay cut if she were to stay (and was reported by St. Louis Post Columnist Deb Peterson). Lane had reportedly called Peterson to deny the report that she wrote on March 20 in the Post who reported that Lane refused the pay cut.
Hmm, from the looks of this, maybe this is the reason why lane was fired and Peterson had the inside scoop? We heard from a source that when Lane found out of her termination she cried until the point she made her self sick. Oh my goodness. Sad indeed.

STL sportscaster Bob Costas (THIRD PIC) had his annual benefit for the Bob Costas Cancer Center at Cardinal Glennon’s Children’s Med Center last Saturday at the Fox Theatre. The musical act this year was legendary Grammy award winning singer/songwriter Paul Simon (SECOND PIC) whose 90 minute set comprised mostly of songs from his classic Grammy Award winning album, "Graceland" album and hits during his Simon and Garfunkel years. Legendary comedian Robert Klein (FIRST PIC) opened the show . We also heard that Costas tried to do some standup and told a joke about Madonna trying to adopt African kids.

Chicago talk show host/mogul Oprah Winfrey announced Monday that she was pulling the scheduled show on the ten year anniversary of the Columbine High School massacre. "After reviewing [the episode]," Winfrey wrote on
her Facebook page, "I thought it focused too much on the killers. Today, hold a thought for the Columbine community. This is a hard day for them." A show about mothers released from prison aired in its place. Must be nice to be Oprah to control what people see.

Young Jeezy, Keri Hilson(who we just found out was a no show to host and perform at newly signed St. Louis Rams James Butler's celebrity party at teh Loft last week), and Soulja Boy are the first names to be announced for Hot 104.1’s Super Jam 2 concert, coming to Verizon Wireless Amphitheater June 13. Tickets go on sale May 2 at http://www.livenation.com/,
at the box office, 877-598-8703, and at select Blockbuster locations.) ONE NIGHT, ONE RADIO STATION and ONE STAGE for SUPER JAM II. Last year they took the city over and made history by bringing over 20 hip-hop and R&B acts to St. Louis where a record 12,000 plus people were in attendance.

We got word that 104.1 perosonality Young Dip is no longer hosting or producing his weekly College Hill networking party for college-aged clubbers at Escalades on Thursdays. The reason being was for the lack of attenance. But don't give up hope for those who were avid goers, a source says that the event is just postponed and may be moved it to another venue.

Why did this chick say after the Ginuwine concert at Loft in her cell phone, “Yeah I touched his dick?” Why was the killing of the character Edie on “Desperate Housewives” so lame? Why are some music websites have their music intros piped up so loud? And why is celebrity blogger Perez Hilton badgering Miss California after her answer from the Q and A segment at the Miss USA Pageant recently just cuz she was against gay marriage?

It’s 1962, and pleasantly plump Baltimore teen Tracy Turnblad has only one desire – to dance on the popular Corny Collins Show. When her dream comes true, Tracy is transformed from social outcast to sudden star, but she must use her newfound power to vanquish the reigning Teen Queen, win the affections of heartthrob Link Larkin and integrate a TV network – all without denting her ‘do! Don’t miss HAIRSPRAY, Broadway’s musical-comedy phenomenon that inspired a major motion picture and won eight 2003 Tony Awards®, including Best Musical.
